As soon as the new school year begins, I start counting down the days until our local coffee shop brings back their holiday drinks. Pumpkin, gingerbread, caramel, and spices are the flavors I typically associate with the Fall season and I love incorporating them into my dishes and coffees. As an avid coffee drinker, I find that I’m mostly drawn to the experience of drinking my morning cuppa as opposed to the caffeine fix many rely on to jump start their day. Because weekly visits to our local coffee shop add up quickly, I mostly brew my coffee at home. This means that I’m very particular about the blends I purchase.
Recently, Seattle’s Best Coffee sent me a bag of their coffee to try. Offered in 7 varieties, coffee drinkers can choose from Light & Crisp to Dark & Intense and everything in between. When I first opened the bag to brew the Medium & Balanced blend I received, I was overwhelmed with the delightful smell of fresh ground coffee beans. While I typically don’t drink my coffee black, it’s a great way to experience the true flavor of a blend. I prefer light to medium roast blends and Seattle’s Best Coffee did not disappoint with it’s smooth, slightly nutty flavor.
I love the challenge of creating recipes, so I brewed a cup of the blend I received from Seattle’s Best Coffee using my French Press and spiced it up with Scharffen Berger’s Unsweetened Cocoa Powder and cinnamon. This recipe for Cinnamon Spiced Mocha Latte is absolutely delightful and offers the perfect blend of sweet, chocolate, and spicy flavors.
Cinnamon Spiced Mocha Latte
6 ounces of brewed coffee
4 ounces of milk, heated
1 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
1 tablespoon cane sugar
1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon vanilla
Once you’ve brewed your coffee, simply add the milk, sugar, cinnamon, and vanilla and stir to combine.
Typically, I can’t enjoy a coffee drink without topping it with whipped cream, but since I’m trying to cut back on the fat and sugar in my diet, I decided to pull out my milk frother and sprinkled the top with cinnamon.
I loved how this recipe enhanced the flavors of Seattle’s Best Coffee. It was a quick, easy way to enjoy a gourmet coffee drink without having to spend $4-5 at my local coffee shop. Whether you prefer your coffee simple or elaborate, Seattle’s Best Coffee guarantees you’ll love the smooth, balanced flavor of their blends and if you don’t, they will give you your money back.
