One of the ways my children enjoy continuing the stories and adventures of their favorite movies is through toys and games. Given that one of my son’s favorite movies is Cars, I knew that after seeing Disney’s Planes, my kids would want to bring Dusty, El Chupacabra, Ishani, and Dottie home with them.
Earlier this month, Disney Interactive launched a high-flying, action-packed video game designed to bring families together to experience the next chapter of Disney’s Planes. The game (like the film) takes place above the world of Cars and expands the storyline, taking players to the skies to experience the thrill of flying as one of the characters. Once players have chosen from the 10 characters available, they can embark on global missions, air races, and other adventures across the globe.

There are ten environments throughout the game, inspired by those seen in the film including Propwash Junction and China, and four modes of play. In Story mode, players roll, turn, and loop their way through mission-based objectives. Ballon Pop is the mini-game that challenges players precision flying skills while Free Flight allows for exploration of each of the 10 environments. Air Rallies is my son’s favorite mode since this is where he can race. Each platform offers the option of single or 2-player modes and drop-in/drop-out co-op play.
Disney Planes the video game is available exclusively for Nintendo consoles including Wii, Wii U, DS, and 3DS.
