Having grown up immersing myself in the arts, I try to exposre my children to variety of different types of experiences, including live production. One of the most spectacular live shows our family witnessed was DreamWorks’ How To Train Your Dragon. The live production was based on an earlier film which tells the story of a Viking teenager named Hiccup who aspires to become a dragon slayer.
Because of the film’s success, two sequels are currently in production and a television series based on the film was launched last year. Dragons: Riders of Berk follows Hiccup and his friends as they continue to learn about dragons (including the discovery of new dragons), teach others not to fear them, and battle against the enemies they encounter as they explore new worlds. The show is authentic when compared to the original film and teaches children important lessons about courage, self-confidence, identifying ones talents and getting along with others.
Last week, Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment released Dragons: Riders of Berk, a 2-disc DVD set that includes the first 20 episodes. In addition to the episodes, the DVDs have a host of special features including Sneak Peeks, a Dragon Tracker, Dragon Mash-Ups, and more. Those who purchase the DVD will be given an exclusive code to unlock content in DreamWorks’ School of Dragons, a brand new game from JumpStart based on the original film (available online and on mobile devices).
If you’re looking for a fun way to talk about Dragons: Rides of Berk, you can download this Kids’ Guide to Vikings!
