A Family Guide To Fantasy Faire at Disneyland

Posted by Caryn Bailey Leave a Comment

But they say if you dream a thing more than once, it’s sure to come true – Princess Aurora, Sleeping Beauty

Fantasy Faire at Disneyland

I wish I could capture the sparkle in my daughter’s eyes when they met those of her favorite Disney Princesses.  Last week, we had a very special mother-daughter day at Disneyland to celebrate the opening of the new Fantasy Faire.  Dressed in the Merida costume Disney gifted us with last year, we headed to the park for a first look at the magical new addition to Fantasyland.

Fantasy Faire at Disneyland

Fantasy Faire is the new royal home to Disney’s Princesses, and from the moment you step inside, you’ll find yourself immersed in the storybook world where fairy tales come to life.  From the intricate detail in the architecture to the nostalgic touches referencing your favorite Disney classics, Fantasy Faire is a world fit for princes and princesses alike! So what can you expect when you walk down the cobblestone pathway leading into Fantasy Faire?

Royal Hall at Fantasy Faire

One of our favorite experiences is the Royal Hall, where families can enjoy special time with the Princesses.  My daughter was given personal, one-on-one time with each Princess and she loved chatting with them. She gave each of them hugs and they had special magical conversations that I know she’ll cherish for years to come.

Through Disney’s PhotoPass service, you’ll be provided with a card containing all of your photos snapped by the photographer. This free service makes it easy to view and share your favorites with family and friends via email or Facebook.  You also have the option of taking photos with your own camera.

It should be noted that the Princesses may change from time to time so be sure to visit more than once!

Tips:

Bring a camera, autograph book, and pen

Dress your prince or princess up (this isn’t required but enhances the experience)

Arrive early in the day, particularly during opening week

Royal Theatre at Fantasy Faire
Plan to spend some time in Fantasy Faire, as Disney introduced two new shows at the Royal Theatre, inspired by Beauty and the Beast and Tangled.  Told in vaudeville-style by Renaissance storytellers Mr. Smythe and Mr. Jones, each show is a clever, creative take on the classic stories, filled with heart and humor. Each princess stars in her respective show along with Flynn Rider, who makes a special appearance during the Tangled-inspired show. It seems like an impossible feat to tell each of these beloved stories in just 20 minutes, but Mr. Smythe and Mr. Jones do so in a lively, musical fashion that manages to keep even the littlest of princes and princesses entertained.

Tips:
Be sure to stay after the show for a special meet and greet with Belle or Rapunzel.
Each show performs several times throughout the day so you’ll want to check the schedule once you arrive.

Bring your video camera!
Maurice's Treats
Since I anticipate that many families might spend at least half a day exploring Fantasy Faire, be sure to stop by Maurice’s Treats for royally delicious snacks! Maurice, Belle’s Father, transformed an old gypsy wagon into a colorful cart serving up Cheddar Cheese Garlic, Strawberry Almond, and Chocolate Bread Twists as well as his signature beverage: a Boysen Apple Freeze!
Bread Twists
I’ve had a chance to try all three bread twists and each is delicious, although if you prefer sweet foods, I recommend the chocolate!
Boysen Apple Freeze
Since I am a huge fan of Red’s Apple Freeze (served inside Cars Land at Disney California Adventure Park), I had a feeling I would enjoy this new frozen apple drink, complimented by a hint of wild berry and topped with a passion fruit foam.  If you have little princes and/or princesses, you might consider ordering the drink in a keepsake goblet or stein.
Tip:
Relax along the cobblestone walls while you enjoy your snacks and refreshments (the view is lovely)
Princess Dresses
Before you leave Fantasy Faire, be sure to stop by Fairytale Treasures, a brand new shop featuring dresses inspired by your favorite Disney Princesses, accessories, gifts, and more.
Fantasy Faire Courtyard
Fantasy Faire is a lovely Renaissance-inspired new destination located inside Fantasyland where families can relive some of their favorite Disney Princess memories. You’ll find the entrance near Sleeping Beauty’s Castle (it was once the Carnation Plaza Gardens). Before you visit, here are the things you don’t want to miss:

Don’t Miss:

Figaro the Cat

Clopin's Music Box

Tangled Tower

Fantasy Faire opens today, March 12th, 2013 at Disneyland Park.

Here is a quick video Shelby and I created to give you our tips on visiting Fantasy Faire with your family.
