You don’t have to travel far for a history lesson. I grew up in Los Angeles and as a child, I would often visit the Natural History Museum, La Brea Tarpits, and Kidspace Children’s Museum. While Orange County isn’t as abundant in museums as LA is, there are still many places children can learn about history, science, and more.
This Saturday, families can celebrate paleontology and archaeology during Prehistoric OC. Some of the activities include archaeological and paleontological demonstrations and exhibits, a free photo booth, crafts and hands-on activities. Here is what you can expect at this free event:
- JurassicCon (a group of Hollywood set designers) will share authentic props, replicas, and other memorabilia from the Jurassic Park movies including the Jurassic Park jeeps.
- Cal State Fullerton Seismologist Dr. David Bowman will conduct an exploding volcano demo
- Mark Hay from Coast Live Oak School will be demonstrating nature survival skills and Native American reed boats at the lake.
- The Kizh Gabrieleño Band of Mission Indians will be present to share their culture with the public.
- The Clark Park Paleontology Museum will host guided tours to showcase its extensive fossil collection from Orange County.
