I would rather entertain and hope that people learned something than educate people and hope they were entertained.
– Walt Disney
One of the unique things about a Disney film is it’s ability to touch people in uniquely personal ways. Disney filmmakers do more than just entertain…they tell a story…the characters are relatable…and they each bring imagination to life in magical ways.
Next month, I’ll spend 3 days immersing myself in several of Disney’s soon-to-be released films. Just in time for the Fall season comes a spectacular film about a boy and his dog. Frankenweenie is Tim Burton’s latest creative endeavor and stars the voice talents of Catherine O’Hara, Martin Short, Martin Landau, Charlie Tahan, Atticus Shaffer, Robert Capron, Conchata Ferrell and Winona Ryder in a unique and creative stop-motion animated film. Shot in black and white and rendered in 3D, this is perhaps one of my most anticipated films of the season. While I don’t have the detailed schedule yet, I do know that we’ll be interviewing cast members from the film and attending the red carpet premiere at the El Capitan Theatre in Hollywood.
The remainder of the trip will be spent speaking with the filmmakers and animators about Wreck-It Ralph and the animated short Paperman. We’ll also get a sneak peek at Disney/Pixar’s Monsters, Inc. 3D!
Wreck-It Ralph will be released in Disney Digital 3D in November, just in time for the holiday season. The film stars the voice talents of John C. Reilly, Jack McBrayer, Jane Lynch, and Sarah Silverman in a story about Ralph, a video game “bad guy” who’s tired of playing that role. He escapes and begins a game-hopping journey to prove that he can be a hero. During his quest, he unleashes a deadly enemy that threatens the entire arcade.
This Fall and Winter season will once again be filled with the creative, imaginative work of Disney.
