A walk down Buena Vista Street at Disney California Adventure Park is a step back in time. Almost immediately, you’re transported to the early 1920’s where optimism and prosperity reigned. When Walt Disney stepped off that train, he was filled with dreams and hope. Fourteen years later his first animated feature length film Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs premiered at the prestigious Carthay Circle Theater in Hollywood. Today, the only replica stands as a distinguished and central icon at the end of Buena Vista Street.
The venue itself does not house a theater, rather two upscale dining establishments: The Carthay Circle Restaurant and the Carthay Circle Lounge. Each features distinct California-fresh cuisine with local menus created by Executive Chef Andrew Sutton. Highlights of the restaurant’s menu include halibut ceviche, strawberry-lemon roasted organic chicken salad, grilled Jamaican jerked king fish and sautéed northern halibut.
Reservations for the restaurant are required, and from taking a walk upstairs, highly sought after.
The lounge, which is housed downstairs, is open, relaxed, and first-come, first-served with regards to seating. The menu includes a selection of foods divided by type including: Bites, Rolls, Snacks, Small Plates, and Finger Desserts.
The entire theater tells the story of Disney movie-making throughout the years.
