After nearly 6 years of research, drawings, animation, and writing, Disney/Pixar’s Brave will open in theaters this Friday, June 22nd, 2012. Of all the films Disney’s released, this one is a bit closer to my heart. Set in the Highlands of Scotland, Brave depicts the story of a young girl who’s fiercely independent spirit clashes with the traditions and customs that define her culture. What ensues is a journey to discover the true meaning of bravery.
Earlier this week, Disney/Pixar premiered Brave at the Dolby Theatre (Formerly the Kodak Theatre), perfectly timed for the new venue’s grand opening during the Los Angeles Film Fest. From Scottish bagpipes and highland dancers to the ceremonial presentation of the haggis, the entire evening was authentic, festive, and uniquely memorable.
Here are a few photos from the evening:
After the premiere, we headed to the after-party, a grand Scottish celebration!
Speaking of Scotland, you likely know that I spent 8 months in the historic city of Edinburgh. To celebrate the release of the film, VisitScotland is hosting a contest and the grand prize is a five night trip to Scotland for four. The trip includes a personal tour guide, archery lessons, a stay in a castle, a private sea plane trip to a mystical Scottish island, a private viewing of the Scottish crown jewels, an after-hours museum tour, and a unique sailing experience across Scotland’s most legendary loch. You can enter through their website. And while you’re over there, you can view their themed itineraries and travel experiences.

No compensation as received for this post. I was invited to the premiere as a guest of Disney/Pixar.

Looks like this was an amazing experience! What fun! My kids really want to see the movie, but some friends who saw it at the LA Film Festival said it was way to scary for little ones. What do you think?
