Mother’s Day is rapidly approaching. I have yet to purchase anything for my mother, let alone have time to think about what I would want. I sent hubby some ideas that some of my favorite blogs came up with (is that cheating?).
In all honesty, I’m blessed to be celebrating Mother’s Day this year. Last year at this time I was not only pregnant, I was contracting way too early. My son was born healthy at almost 38 weeks and I am so thankful for him. He is truly the best gift anyone could give me this Mother’s Day (spoken like a true Hallmark card!). Amnesia has set in because after 21 weeks of bedrest and a high-risk, difficult pregnancy, I’m entertaining the idea of another baby.
As a nurse, weekends and holidays are fair game. It just so happens that this year I will be taking care of other mommies’ babies who aren’t well enough to go home. And while I’m disappointed that I won’t be spending time with my husband and my son, I know that being there for those babies in the NICU is the best gift I can give to the moms who can’t be with their babies.
So what do I want this year? Time…time with my son, time with my husband, time with my 2 very best friends, time with MY mom…
“Dost thou love life? Then do not squander time, for that the stuff life is made of.” Benjamin Franklin
