The morning we disembarked from the Carnival Splendor that warm summer day in Florida, the tears commenced. My kids’ first cruise was in the books, memories of snorkeling in Cozumel and dancing with the Seuss gang now imprinted on their hearts. They made me promise we would go back. It really was one of our best vacations ever. There were so many things that made our Carnival Cruise memorable, not the least of which included our culinary team (who made sure my son with food allergies enjoyed every single meal), and the counselors at Camp Ocean who filled their “at sea” days with exciting activities. During our Western Caribbean Cruise, my kids also enjoyed Carnival’s Seuss at Sea Program, which immerses kids in the world of Dr. Seuss.
Carnival Cruise Line Seuss at Sea Program
If you are a first-time cruiser and you plan to bring small children, you are likely wondering what types of activities are included onboard the ship. Carnival’s exclusive Seuss at Sea Program brings the author’s iconic characters to life through character parades, interactive story time, arts and crafts, and a character breakfast. Apart from the Green Eggs and Ham breakfast, all of the activities are included with your cruise reservation.
As a parent, I am always looking for ways to encourage my children to read. I appreciate the interplay between learning and fun aboard every Carnival Cruise. From The Cat in the Hat to One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish, Dr. Seuss’s timeless books are infused into each activity, inspiring children towards a love for books and reading.
Dr. Seuss Bookville
This library of sorts features bright colors, whimsical furniture, and kids’ favorite Dr. Seuss characters on the walls. The shelves of this kid-centric library are filled with books upon books for children to enjoy aboard the ship. Dr. Seuss Bookville is exclusively aboard Carnival ships.
Seuss-a-Palooza Parade
Join The Cat in the Hat, Thing 1 and Thing 2, and more during the Seuss-a-palooza Parade, now available on select Carnival ships. This spirited procession parades across the ship and commences in an interactive story time.
Seuss-a-Palooza Story Time
Throughout your Carnival Cruise, families will have an opportunity to participate in Seuss-palooza Story Time. Dr. Seuss’s stories will come to life inside the theater with special appearances by characters from the books. Kids are encouraged to become part of the story and interact while it is being narrated.
As part of a fun summer Word Challenge, local kids attending the Boys and Girls Club of Long Beach were invited aboard the Carnival Inspiration for a special book reading by LA Dodgers’ Kike Hernandez. For many of these kids, it was their first time onboard a cruise ship. In addition to hearing the famous baseball player narrate Dr. Seuss’ What Pet Should I Get?, the kids enjoyed Seuss-inspired activities, character meet and greets, a Seuss-a-palooza Parade, and a Green Eggs and Ham Breakfast.
