Drawing inspiration from the film by the same title, Bring It On: The Musical combines comedy, gravity-defying choreography, and a compelling story about the thrilling world of competitive cheerleading.
After premiering in Atlanta for the first time this year, the musical opened late last month at the Ahmanson Theatre in Los Angeles for a six week run. The musical brings together a creative team that includes Tony Award-winning writer Jeff Whitty from Avenue Q, Tony Award-winning composer Lin-Manuel Miranda from In The Heights, Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award-winning composer Tom Kitt from Next to Normal, lyricist Amanda Green from High Fidelity, Tony Award-winning orchestrator Alex Lacamoire from Wicked, and Tony Award-winning director/choreographer Andy Blankenbuehler also from In The Heights.
The original story follows Campbell, the cheer captain of Truman High School who gets reassigned to Jackson High where she’ll have to win over her new team and lead them to victory. The musical comedy will delight and entertain, all while proving that winning isn’t everything.
