Every month or so, six of us moms get together with our kids for some “gal time.” Sometimes we’ll meet at a restaurant, but more often than not, we’ll gather at one of our houses so our children can run, giggle, and play while we chat and catch up. This particular weekend is expected to be very hot, so we decided that we wouldn’t touch the oven. Instead, we opted for sandwiches, fruit, veggies, cheese and crackers, and an ice cream bar.
As I mentioned in an earlier post, our nearest Walmart with a grocery section is 30 miles away. When I walked in with my shopping list, I was very surprised to find a variety of party platters. I decided to pick up a couple of their sandwich platters and a vegetable platter. I didn’t buy a fruit platter since I had purchased fruit for the ice cream bar. I also picked up plates, napkins, and flags for decoration. The total cost? Just over my $30 budget at $33.76. However, there was enough food for 12 of us with plenty left over. Check out our spread!
I even managed to pick up some crafting supplies so the kids could make flags.
Happy 4th to you and your family!
