Do you find mattress shopping just a tad bit overwhelming? The thought of making such an expensive and permanent decision on an item that I will use nightly for upwards of 25 years is daunting. I have only shopped for a new mattress twice in my life, and the amount of research that went into those 2 purchases was extensive. I spent weeks reading, researching and testing out mattresses in all price ranges, styles, and degrees of support.
One week ago, I spent some time at Serta’s headquarters learning everything from how their innovative building was constructed to how their mattresses are designed and tested. Our day concluded with an in-depth look at their latest innovation…the iComfort Sleep System! In a few short weeks, I’ll be receiving the system to review. My goal is to give you personal, first-hand experience with the mattress along with some tips on selecting a mattress for yourself and/or your family.
As a mother and a consumer, I am conscious of a company’s sustainability efforts. Without getting too technical (or boring), we were briefed on the building’s efficiency. The building is designed to LEED standards and has received multiple awards in recognition of both it’s architecture and environmental consciousness. The building feels very open and inviting, particularly because of the number of glass walls present and each employee’s proximity to natural light. This proximity also allows for employees to relate and communicate with each other openly, thus contributing to a positive, friendly work environment. The building itself has no impact on the surrounding prairie/wetlands and uses natural ventilation to minimize the use of heating and cooling systems. If you would like to read more about Serta’s commitment to the environment, just visit their website.
If you follow me on Twitter, you may remember me saying that Serta Mattresses are designed by women for women, and I think it’s worth repeating. As a leader and innovator, the company has worked to ensure that every mattress provides superior comfort and support. The launch of their new iComfort system was the result of much research and consumer insights. The company didn’t just offer their own take on memory foam…they reinvented it. I have so much to tell you about this mattress (like how comfy, cool, and classy it is), but I am going to hold off until I can share my extensive personal experience with it.
You and I will spend about one third of our lives sleeping (I wonder if the BBC took into consideration those years of missed sleep that are the result of having children). Sufficient, uninterrupted sleep is crucial for optimal health. Serta recognizes this and has partnered with the National Sleep Foundation to promote better sleep through education and awareness. Stay tuned for tips on getting a better night’s sleep!
One of you will have the opportunity to win an iComfort Sleep System in the size and style of your choice. The giveaway will go live this week, just in time for Memorial Day Weekend so stay tuned!!
Disclosure: I will be receiving an iComfort Sleep System from Serta and a stipend for tax purposes. They also paid for my travel costs to visit their headquarters. The opinions and reviews here are my own and have not been changed or altered by anyone else.
