Some of my fondest memories of traveling through a country involve food. I prefer local cafes or bistros as opposed to fancy 5 star restaurants hyped up in a tourist guide. When I visit a foreign county, I want to experience national traditions and local cultural intricacies. Our visit to España was one of the most memorable travel experiences! My wife and I spent several nights enjoying a Spanish tradition known as Tapas. An increasingly popular concept here in the States, tapas or small plates, allow us to sample numerous dishes without overeating. Dining is meant to be a social event, a chance to share good food and drinks with friends and family. And who can deny the brilliance of their timing? Work… Lunch… Nap… Work… Late Dinner. I don’t know why Americans haven’t adopted the beauty of the siesta, but we are truly missing out!
Spain is famous for its wine making. I’m certainly no connoisseur, but when we received a bottle of Tapeña’s Garnacha Red Wine, memories of Spain came flooding back. Its funny how the specific flavor of a wine with its slight spice and fruity over tones can point right to the region where it is grown. Tapeña offers a great selection of wines from some of the best vineyards in Spain. When translated, Tapeña is a combination of Tapas and close friends. And thats exactly how it is meant to be enjoyed: with good food and great friends!
Tapeña wines are available in Tempranillo, Garnacha, Verdejoand Rosé and retail for approximately $10.
