There is a quote by Aarti Khurana with a simple but timely admonition..”collect moments, not things.” I strive to live this way every single day, and in the midst of my kids’ growing Santa Wish Lists, I find myself looking for ways experiences that will create a lasting imprint on their hearts.

Christmas has always been my favorite time of year but not for the reasons you might presume. This is a time where I reflect on the blessings of family and friendships and my time with the most important people in my life is often spent doing a few of our favorite things. Knott’s Merry Farm has become a cherished tradition in our family…something we all look forward to just as much as trimming our Christmas tree and warming up around the fire with hot apple cider.
Knott’s Berry Farm’s magical holiday celebration begins November 17, 2017 and includes festive food, entertainment, shopping and a dusting of snow. With so much to see and do this season at Knott’s Merry Farm, here are my favorite ways to make Christmas memories at the park.
1. Take a family photo with Santa: One of our favorite places to warm up inside the park is in Ghost Town at Santa’s Christmas Cabin. Not only will children have an opportunity to share their wishes with Santa, they can enjoy a variety of holiday treats including homemade cookies, pastries, cinnamon rolls, fresh-roasted nuts, and seasonal craft beer. Don’t forget your camera!
2. Ring in the season with the Peanuts gang: One of the most spectacular ice shows in Southern California, Merry Christmas, Snoopy! returns to the Charles M. Schulz Theatre. From trimming the Christmas tree and getting ready for the Christmas Ball to awaiting the arrival of Santa, we always find this show to be absolutely delightful. Remember you can also see the Peanuts gang in a brand new show at the Camp Snoopy Theater. This year, Christmas Time is Here, Charlie Brown will feature a mash-up of your holiday musical favorites and a charming story to ring in the season. Lastly, be sure to stay for Snoopy’s Merriest Tree Lighting show on the Calico Square Stage. This beautiful, wistful show features marching toy soldiers, dancing snowmen, Mrs. Calus and Snoopy!
3. Take a ride on Engine 41: My kids absolutely love the Christmas transformation which features are favorite Ghost Town residents sharing their plans for the holiday season.
4. Savor Knott’s Merry Farm’s seasonal holiday treats: While Santa’s Christmas Cabin is your go-to for a variety of seasonal delights, be sure to peruse Ghost Town for fresh, poured-to-order maple lollipops at the Gold Trails Hotel, holiday churros from The Churro Factory and warm gingerbread baked at the Farm Bakery.
5. Get a head start on your holiday shopping at Knott’s Christmas Crafts Village: Located in Ghost Town, the holiday season is the one time of year where guests can find a number of local artisans selling handmade gifts.
6. Experience one of the only snowfalls in Southern California: At dusk, Ghost Town lights up to the sound of holiday music as snow falls from the School House to the Saloon and down to the Assay Office.
7. Enjoy Holiday-Exclusive Entertainment: From the strolling Calico Carolers to the toe tappin’ hand clappin’ Krazy Kirk and the Hillbillies, Merry Farm is the one season where families can experience the sounds, songs, and stories of Christmas.
Knott’s Merry Farm is the merriest time of year at the park. With so much to do, you’ll want to visit early and often!
