5 Reasons To Visit a Spa in the New Year

Posted by Caryn Bailey Leave a Comment

{Consideration provided by Burke Williams}

After everyone had left on Christmas day, I finally sank into my couch, the exhaustion from the holidays now fully realized. I love those four weeks between Thanksgiving and Christmas, from the busyness of shopping and entertaining to the joy and memories we share as a family. But come December 26th, I’m ready for that week or so of downtime I always anticipate as we approach the new year. Since it was quiet, I thought it would be the perfect time to schedule a massage at my favorite European-inspired spa, Burke Williams.

Don’t Visit a Spa, Visit THE Spa – Burke Williams

Don’t just visit a spa. You can go anywhere for that. Visit THE spa. From the moment you walk inside Burke Williams, you begin to relax. The quiet, dimly lit reception area sets the tone for your time of relaxation. After their brief check-in process, I was escorted to the women’s lounge to change into my robe and slippers. Inside each separate men and women’s lounge, you’ll find whirlpools, steam rooms, a dry sauna, a cool misting room, private showers and cold deluge. I personally appreciated the vanity areas equipped with those things I often forget like hair care products, blow dryers, curling irons, shaving necessities, lotion and more. I recommend arriving with sufficient time to enjoy all of the amenities at your local Burke Williams Day Spa. I decided to relax in their whirlpool prior to my massage, which helped to relax me in anticipation of my treatment. You can also opt to relax in front of the fire in their co-ed lounge while sipping on season tea or infused water.

Once it was time for my massage, my therapist greeted me and escorted me back to the treatment room. Soft music played while my therapist identified those areas where I hold my tension. What I really appreciated about her was how she tailored the massage to my needs, ensuring that the pressure wasn’t too soft or too strong. At the conclusion of my treatment, she ensured I had water to re-hydrate after the massage and escorted me back to the women’s lounge.

Massage is just one of the varied services offered at Burke Williams. They have everything you’ve come to expect and more when you visit a spa. You can also get a facial, manicure, pedicure, and more. There are 10 Burke Williams locations in California, including 2 in Orange County (Mission Viejo and Orange). If you visit the website of your local day spa, you’ll find their current specials. And if you plan to make your spa day a girl’s day out, you can request a beautiful fruit platter to share (like the one pictured here). Just be sure to call your local Burke Williams ahead of time to arrange.

Are you in need of a spa day? Here are 5 Reasons To Visit a Spa.

  1. Relax and disconnect: In a world where we’re constantly plugged in, a visit to a day spa is an opportunity to slow down and disconnect. This gives your mind and your body some much needed down time.
  2. Improve your overall health and well being: The benefits of a body treatment include relaxation, alleviation of stress and assistance with pain management. The result is that your sleep and mood is improved, making you feel better.
  3. Learn about your skin: When you receive a facial by an esthetician, they can teach you about your skin type, how to achieve the results you are striving for, and what products might work best. At Burke Williams, a facial includes a 22-point acupressure massage which is combined with H2V, their signature skin care line.
  4. Connect with friends/loved ones: Going to the spa with friends is a great way to re-connect while enjoying some pampering time. Converse in the whirlpool or in the lounge by the fire while enjoying fresh fruit and refreshing infused waters.
  5. Enjoy professional treatments: The number of day spas and locations to receive body treatments continues to expand, making massage and facials convenient and affordable. However, the benefit of visiting a spa like Burke Williams is that you’ll receive professional treatments, customized to you and your needs. When you receive a massage, facial or other treatment by a professional, you know that it is safe and effective.
