The look of awe and wonder on my childrens’ faces when they see Santa for the first time at the beginning of the holiday season is priceless. But this enchantment was once apprehension and even fear of the folkloric figure that is often a symbol of Christmas. These days, my kids are completely vested in Old Saint Nick, and a visit to share their wish lists with a commemorative photo is an important part of our family’s holiday traditions.
With seemingly endless venues for Santa spottings, it’s difficult to decide where to take the littles, particularly when he’s often housed in busy shopping malls across the Southland. HGTV, the leading home and lifestyle brand that leads the space in innovation and design, has once again launched their interactive Santa HG in 10 malls throughout the country. This contemporary journey features state-of-the-art digital technology, but if that isn’t enough to compel you to make a visit, here are 5 reasons to take your next Santa photo at HGTV’s Santa HQ!
1. Minimal waiting and lines. Admittedly, the most painful part of a Santa visit is the wait-time, particularly as we get closer to Christmas. With online reservations, you’ll spend less time in line and more time doing the things you really want to do…like meeting Santa Claus!
2. Peek into the World of Santa’s Elves. Using the portal inside Santa’s Workshop or the free Elf-Ray Vision app, kids can discover the secret world of Santa’s elves.
3. Take an Elfie Selfie. As part of the technology incorporated into this experience, kids can take a selfie with an elf and be the star of their own dancing-elf video. You can also share your customized video inside Santa’s workshop.
4. Find out if you’ve been Naughty or Nice. The Naughty or Nice O’Meter is the sole reason I want to take my kids to visit Santa HQ! This is the ultimate test of your kids’ place on Santa’s list.
5. Learn how to make easy Holiday DIY projects. I craft the most during this time of year, but time is always an deterrent. I love the easy step-by-step guides provided by HGTV Handmade. You can see some of the projects at Santa’s Workshop.
Visit Santa HQ at Vintage Faire in Modesto, Los Cerritos Center in Cerritos, and Lakewood Center in Lakewood through December 24th, 2015. You can also enter to win a $10,00 in HGTV’s Spreading Holiday Cheer Sweepstakes by visiting their website.
