One of the many benefits of owning a home is having ultimate creative freedom to paint an accent wall, change out light fixtures and install a modern bathroom faucet without seeking anyone’s approval. There is a sense of joy and satisfaction that comes with making a home your unique, personal space. During my time as a renter, I stored up ideas after perusing lifestyle magazines and design websites in anticipation of my first brand new home. While my goal was to eventually add my own personal touches to every room in the home, the bathroom and the kitchen were top priorities, since those are the spaces guests typically traverse during a visit.
I have grand ideas for my kitchen, some of which won’t be realized for years because of the cost (have you ever heard that when you sell you’re home, you’re actually selling your kitchen?). But refreshing your bathroom can be done quickly, easily, and affordably. And with these 5 bathroom fixes, it’s likely that with the right tools, you could easily accomplish these tasks yourself.
1. De-clutter and Organize: Vintage cabinets, wooden crates, and drawer organizers can help open up your counter space while storing cosmetics and other bathroom essentials.
2. Refresh with a new coat of paint: Choose a light, vibrant color that will open up the space and breathe life into your bathroom.
3. Alter mood and ambiance with light and scents: Use candles and aromatic bath salts to create a space that is warm and inviting.
4. Showcase your style with stylish bathroom fixtures: A contemporary shower-head or a classic bathroom faucet are key fixtures that speak to your style. They’re also major focal points of your bathroom so investing in an upgrade can add style and value to this space.
5. Indulge your guests with plush towels and rugs: These items don’t need to be expensive, but ensure they coordinate with the colors and theme present in your bathroom.
For all of the above ideas, you can easily repurpose items you already have. Remember to think outside of the box to see if a small piece of furniture you are no longer using in your bedroom would work in your bathroom. Similarly, many kitchen items that seem to have little use beyond decor can function as stylish pieces to house bathroom essentials.
