4 Easy Ways to Prevent Diaper Leaks

Confession! I am relieved that both of my children are potty-trained, which permanently closes that last chapter of our diaper diaries. Leakage, diaper rashes, and cost were common challenges we faced (see why I’m so relieved?) and we went through a number of different types of diapers to find the right “fit.” Because it isn’t uncommon for a child to go through upwards of 2,000 diapers within the first year of life, comfort, fit and effectiveness are key deciding factors when selecting and sticking with a brand.

When my children were younger, I often worried that their diapers would leak at an inopportune moment…like when I was headed to a work meeting (of course) or that afternoon we spent visiting friends and my son permanently stained a handmade quilt passed down from 2 generations. Apart from diaper rashes (often caused by diaper failures), leakage was a significant problem and one I honestly never found a great solution for.  If you’re looking for a comfortable diaper sepcifically designed to combat leakage, you’ll happily celebrate the debut of Luvs new Super Absorbent Diapers. Hailed as the most absorbent Luvs available, these diapers are 15% more absorbent than conventional Luvs.

Luvs Diapers

Some of Luvs Super Absorbent Diaper features include a contoured shape for ideal fit, an ultra-absorbent leak guard core to lock wetness away, stretch tabs that can be refastened, and leak barrier leg gathers to trap moisture.  These diapers are available at Walmart and you can find them by looking for the blue seal on the packaging which distinguishes them from other Luvs diapers.

Walmart Luvs Club

Not only do families with children go through an exorbant number of diapers every year, particularly during the first year, the expense can feel overwhelming.  I always looked for opportunities to save money through coupons and other special offers which is why I encourage any mom with a child in diapers to sign up for the Walmart Luvs Club. This free loyalty program offers opportunities to save money on diapers and receive tips throughout the year. When you sign up, you’ll be entered to win a year’s supply of Luvs diapers (ARV $1,000). And if you share the “Luv” with your friends and family, you’ll also receive a coupon for $1.50 off your next diaper purchase.

Easy Ways to Prevent Diaper Leaks

Now that I have 2 diaper graduates, I can tell you from our experience that there are a few tricks for ensuring your child’s diaper does not leak.

1. Purchase a Super Absorbent Diaper like those offered by Luvs

2. Make sure your child is wearing the correct diaper size

3. Change diapers often, as soon as you notice they are wet/soiled

4. Consider using diaper covers, particularly for older children still in diapers
