I honestly can’t believe we’re talking about the Back-To-School Season so soon! It feels like yesterday we were celebrating my son’s graduation from Kindergarten. The summer, filled with lots of memories and exciting adventures, is shortly coming to an end, and it’s incredibly bittersweet for me. I personally love each stage in my children’s life and while I’m excited about the coming school year, there is a part of me that wants them to stay little for a long time.
Despite stories from other moms describing the stress of shopping for the Back-To-School Season, I personally find it quite enjoyable, as long as we start early. Our local Walmart has had school supplies and local classroom lists in since July, and since our teacher outlined what my son would need for the new school year, we’ve been picking up things here and there during our regular shopping trips.
One of the biggest surprises about the previous school year was how quickly my son outgrew his clothes and shoes. In anticipation of the coming year, I headed over to my local Walmart for a Back-To-School Shopping Spree. Armed with $50 in hand, I focused on getting my son basic items that were stylish, versatile, comfortable, and affordable. Check out the 4 complete outfits we picked up for just under $50 (including tax!):
Jeans are a staple for my active little boy and quality is vital. I can’t tell you how many holes my son tore in his jeans last year. I love that Walmart carries Wrangler brand jeans so I picked up two different styles: Carpenter (shown above) and Cargo (shown below). The primary difference between the two is in the look of the jean. Wrangler jeans are made from 100% cotton and feature an adjustable waist band which makes it more feasible that my son will get as much wear out of them as possible. He is also on the slimmer side so it’s nice to be able to take them in at the waist before the school year begins.
The biggest testament to the quality of Wrangler jeans is the fact that the company offers a one-year warranty with each purchase. I don’t know that I had ever read that before so I’ll definitely keep it in mind in the event that he happens to rip a hole through these.
Our local Walmart offered a wide variety of colors, styles, and sizes which hints that they’re pretty popular.
To complete each look, I picked up two Faded Glory Plaid/Graphic Crew Tee sets. I purchased a few of these last year for my son and I thought it was one of the smartest purchases I made. For $9.97, my son gets a dressier plaid button down shirt and a casual crew tee. He can wear each shirt individually or layer them which means there are three different outfit options. I love how soft the tees are and both shirts lasted the entire school year (in fact, he still wears them!).
During my recent trip to Bentonville, I had an opportunity to get a first look at Walmart’s new apparel selection. Not only will you be seeing on-trend styles, they’ve committed to improving their quality standards. From our first Back-To-School Shopping trip, I can already see a difference in both the styles offered and the quality (the jeans this year seem to be even more durable, made from heavier fabrics).
Check out Walmart’s entire Back-To-School offerings in-store or on their website (I actually found even lower prices on some items on Walmart.com).
When do you start shopping for the Back-To-School Season? And what do you look for? I’d love to hear your thoughts.
