3 Easter Activities Your Kids Will Love

Posted by Caryn Bailey 1 Comment

Just about a week ago, I noticed that the sun was setting just a little later…a welcome sign that Spring is on the horizon. We typically don’t get a wide variation in our seasons, but our winter was unseasonably cold and rainy, so the fact that the days are getting longer and the temperatures are rising warms my heart.

Even before my kids were exchanging Valentine’s Day cards, our store shelves were transformed into a pastel array of Easter cheer. The holiday is very important to us for many reasons and we love to celebrate in a variety of ways.  From dyeing eggs and Easter Brunch to getting outside at your local park and enjoying the activities in your community, there are a wide variety of Easter Activities families can participate in to celebrate and create memories around Easter. Here are our favorites!

Mini Wooden Easter Baskets

Get Crafty! From simple tissue paper crafts to more elaborate projects involving paper mache or wood, Easter is a wonderful time to experiment with colors, textures, and themes.  Crafts can also be used to inspire and/or teach children about the meaning of Easter.  We love craft time because it provides an opportunity for us to work together as a family and tap into our collective creativity.  Last year, we made Mini Wooden Easter Baskets out of Dixie Paper Cups, Craft sticks, and colored Pipe Cleaners. Even though the craft was simple and inexpensive, it was meaningful to my kids and one they really enjoyed.  They were so proud of those mini baskets and wouldn’t even look at the store bought ones!

Stuffed French Toast

Get Cooking!  Easter brunch has always been a tradition in our family, but in more recent years, we’ve opted to cook and enjoy our meal together at home in place of overcrowded restaurants with elaborate, expensive Easter menus.  Our children love to be in the kitchen with us, so we utilize every opportunity we can to teach them about food.  Whether I’m baking something simple or my husband is whipping up an elaborate meal, we try to involve our children, even if their job is to pour, measure or stir.

Upcycled Easter Basket

Get Creative!  With so much color and vibrance, there are a ton of options for getting creative around the holiday.  If you are passionate about the environment (like we are), you might consider food dye-alternatives to coloring your Easter Eggs.  Unimpressed with store-bought Easter Baskets?  Make your own, including your personal touches such as a favorite treat, book, or toy.

Hershey's Easter Basket

If you’re looking for inspiration, check out Celebrate with HERSHEY’s for Easter Crafts, Recipes, Printables, and more.  Bonus: Many of the crafts and recipes are made with chocolate…what’s not to love about that? : )

Be sure to follow along Hershey’s Bunny Trail where many of your favorite bloggers will be sharing their own Easter traditions, memories, and stories.

What activities do you participate in during Easter? I’d love to be inspired by you!
