Toy Story 3

Posted by Caryn Bailey 1 Comment

Earlier this summer, my son watched his very first Toy Story film.  The result has been a little boy who draws pictures of Woody and runs around the house yelling “to infinity…and beyond!”  We have a small collection of toys based on the film and my son insisted on dressing up as Buzz Lightyear this past Halloween. You can just imagine his excitement when we received Toy Story 3 on DVD and Blu-Ray.

You may have read my review, but here is a brief synopsis:

Toy Story 3 welcomes Woody, Buzz, and the whole gang back as Andy prepares to depart for college and his loyal toys find themselves in… day care!  These untamed tots with their sticky little fingers do not play nice, so it’s all for one and one for all as plans for the great escape get underway. More than a few new faces—some plastic, some plush—join the adventure, including iconic swinging bachelor and Barbie’s counterpart Ken, a thespian hedgehog named Mr. Pricklepants and a pink, strawberry-scented teddy bear called Lots-o’-Huggin’ Bear.

While it’s a different experience watching the film at home (as opposed to watching it in 3D in a theater), it was still funny, exciting, and tender. I am old enough to remember when the original Toy Story first premiered and I was a bit nostalgic watching this movie with my son.  The film’s heartwarming story is bridged with humor (including some humor only adults would understand) and action. I adore the familiarity of the characters and identified with the overarching theme of growing up.

Disney has had a lot of success with their Blu-Ray + DVD Combo Packs, which are packed with a ton of special features.  Here are just a few of our favorites:

Day & Night – The innovative and entertaining short from the imagination of Pixar artist and Director Teddy Newton.

Toys! – A closer look at all of Toy Story 3’s beloved toys from updating the classic characters to the creation of the Sunnyside Daycare and Bonnie’s Room toys
A Toy’s Eye View: Creating A Whole New Land– A sneak peek at the new Toy Story-themed playland at Hong Kong Disneyland.

Accidental Toymakers – By creating the Toy Story characters, the Pixar filmmakers found themselves in the unlikely role of toy designers. Meet the toy company that took a chance on manufacturing the now iconic toys and learn of their incredible success that began with a modest number of Woody and Buzz Lightyear toys 15 years ago.

Toy Story 3 is available in the following forms:

4-Disc Blu-ray Combo Pack $45.99

2-Disc Blu-ray $39.99

Single Disc DVD $29.99

Ultimate Toy Box 3-Movie Collection which includes all three Toy Story releases on Blu-ray, DVD, and Digital $100

No compensation was received for this post. A copy of the film was provided which helped to facilitate this review.
