This giveaway is now closed. Thanks for stopping by. The winner is Crystal. Congratulations!
While cleaning doesn’t necessarily excite me, innovative, eco-friendly cleaning products do. Have I told you about my extreme dislike for sponges? I think they’re gross. Those little grooves are certain to hide all kinds of icky microbes AND they fall apart when you microwave them. When I’m on a cleaning spree, I usually go through an entire roll of paper towels to avoid sponges and rags.
I don’t have to waste paper towels anymore thanks to a fabulous little product called the Skoy Cloth. When I first saw these in person, they screamed adorable to me. But these cloths are so much more than a pretty face. This multi-use cloth is so absorbent, it can absorb 15 times it’s own weight. It’s 100% biodegradable, natural, reusable, and machine washable. Here is a little more information from the site:
This European made product is 100% biodegradable and is made from a unique blend of natural cotton and wood-pulp cellulose. Skoy cloth is non-toxic, chlorine-free and made using water-based colors and inks.
This little cloth is fantastic. Wet it, squeeze it, use it. That’s it. Once you’ve cleaned with it, throw it in the dishwasher, clothes washer, or microwave. It’s definitely more absorbent than it looks and I love that one cloth can save me 15 rolls of paper towels! You can use them with water or a cleaning solution (eco-friendly of course!). Once it dried out (rather quickly might I add) it retained it’s shape and didn’t smell like a dirty sponge. And….it will break down completely in 5 weeks. I love the fun, bright colors and inspirational sayings. So you’re probably thinking that a fabulous product, made in Europe, designed to save you time and money and free your home from bacteria is going to at least cost you your Starbucks habit for a week. If you can believe it, one four-pack will cost you $5.99. When you consider that one cloth could last you weeks, months and even one year, you begin to see how valuable and smart a product like the Skoy Cloth really is.
Win It! One of you will win a two-pack of Skoy Cloths to try out. Simply head on over to the site and take a look around. Come back here and leave me a comment with something interesting you found on the site (that wasn’t mentioned in my review). Comments will close on April 2, 2009 at 10 PM PST. One comment per person, please. US residents only. Duplicates and comments not including the above information will be disqualified. Comments are moderated. If you don’t see your comment in a reasonable amount of time, send me an email. Bloggers and non-bloggers may enter. If you don’t want to leave your email address, please be sure to check back for my announcement on the winner. Please note that winners must respond within 48 hours of being announced/contacted or another winner will be drawn.

“The SKOY cloth has an absorption factor of 15x its own weight” – which, when you think of it, is pretty darned amazing!
This looks very cool, I’d really love to give it a try. We go through paper towels like we are growing trees in our backyard. Well, we ARE growing trees in our backyard, but not for paper towels. 🙂
Cheers, Kiy

Since SKOY is reusable and washable it can last a very long time, some people still use them after a year. A normal life cycle of a SKOY cloth starts in the kitchen to wipe countertops and table tops. After using the SKOY for a week or two in the kitchen, it can be renewed in the washer and “downgraded” for indoor cleaning such as floors, bathrooms, etc. After a few months in this stage, being washed a couple of times, the SKOY can then be used for outdoor messes, such as wiping patio furniture as well as for garage use. This is the great thing with SKOY, it can be used over and over again.
