Green Me: Fun in the Sun with KINeSYS

Posted by Caryn Bailey 1 Comment

The temperature in my car this morning read 95 degrees.  Yes…that’s not a typo.  It’s nearing November in Southern California and apparently nobody told the weather control systems that it’s fall…which means the temperature should be falling!  Regardless of how hot it is outside, we should all wear sunscreen on a regular basis to protect against one of the most preventable (and common) types of cancer in the US.   In the US alone, over 1 million cases are diagnosed every year.

What you may not know is how vitally important sunscreen is for children.  According to KidsHealth, most children will achieve 50% and 80% of their lifetime sun exposure before the age of eighteen.  With concerns regarding the safety of sunscreen, particularly for children, parents may find themselves confused about how to best protect their children from the sun’s damaging rays while avoiding sunscreen chemicals that have been found to disrupt the endocrine and reproductive systems.

KINeSYS sunscreen was rated by Skin Deep: Cosmetic Safety Database as one of the safest and most effective sunscreens on the market.  Recently, we were able to try out their kid’s line, thanks to KINeSYS and the Family Review Network.

Funscreen Spray-On Sunscreen For Kids (SPF30) offers oil, alcohol, preservative, and PABA-free protection against UVA and UVB rays. Funscreen is water and sweat-resistant, hypoallergenic, non-comedogenic (it won’t clog your pores).  It is supposed to be fragrance-free but it does have a very mild, pleasant “sunscreen” scent. It’s so easy to use…you literally just spray it on and let it dry (don’t rub!).  It’s much easier than trying to lather a wiggly toddler, hoping you’ve got all the exposed areas.

Little girls will love the sweet vanilla-green tea scent of SPF 30 Girl Sunscreen Spray.  It offers all of the same protection as above with the added benefit of topical antioxidant Tocopheryl Acetate (Vitamin E) to scavenge free radicals.  This one’s mine!  : )

Both products spray-on and dry within a couple of minutes without leaving an oily residue (like most sunscreens on the market).  The only way you know you have sunscreen on is the scent after it’s been applied.

Purchase online or at a number of retailers near you.  REI and Sport Chalet stand out as the most well-known retailers that carry KINeSYS products.  Be sure to read more about how KINeSYS cares for the environment!

I’ve been doing a ton of “green” reviews and articles.  A big hooray for those companies taking steps to keep the consumer and the environment safe!
