Known for being a foodie-lovers haven, this year’s assortment of eats and treats spans 60 unique food vendors offering more than 1200 different menu items. In light of this year’s theme, Dare to Fair, today I’m sharing 10 Foods You Must Try at the LA County Fair…if you dare!
10 Must-Eats at the LA County Fair
- Chicken in a Waffle on a Stick: Created by the masterminds at Chicken Charlie’s, this year’s take on the Southern classic features fried chicken tenders in a waffle on a stick served with a side of maple syrup.
- French Toast Bacon Bombs: Cream cheese-filled sweet dough is wrapped in bacon, deep-fried and rolled in cinnamon sugar for the best of all-things breakfast. Served at Bacon-A-Fair.
- Truffle-Gouda Bacon Fries: Bacon crumbles and truffle-gouda top crisp french fries. Served at Bacon-A-Fair.
- Porkabello Kabobs: Bacon-A-Fair’s latest dish features baby portabella mushrooms stuffed with gouda and wrapped in bacon.
- Affogato Ice Cream Sundae: With this decadent treat you’ll enjoy a double shot of freshly-brewed espresso in a glass test tube placed upside-down on ice cream. Served at Fried-A-Fair.
- Churro Funnel Cake: Tasti Chips marries the best of fair food and the result is a sweet, deep-fried delight. Take it up a notch by opting for whipped cream and fresh strawberries.
- Deep Fried Butter: Battered and fried, these deep-fried butter balls taste more like a donut than the churned indulgence you’re familiar with. Find it at Fried-A-Fair.
- Deep-Fried Hot Sauce: Created by Chicken Charlie’s specifically for the LA County Fair, this dish is on fire! Frank’s RedHot Sauce is rolled into a ball with batter, then deep-fried and served with spicy ranch sauce and a jalapeño pepper.
- Jackfruit Taco: Even meat-lovers are having trouble distinguishing between these vegan tacos and traditional carnitas. Available at Plant Food For People, these tacos are served on organic corn tortillas and topped with chipotle mayo and shredded coleslaw.
- Crawfish étouffée: Served at Harold and Belle’s, this traditional New Orleans dish features crawfish tails in a spicy crawfish gravy served over rice. Finish with their warm, perfectly sweet beignets!

- Jurassic Planet: The LA County Fair’s newest exhibit dates back to prehistoric times. Featuring 35 life-sized dinosaurs, families can hear the roar of the 44 foot longT-Rex, get hands-on at the dinosaur museum, watch live shows and learn more about these fascinating creatures from paleontologists at the fossil prep lab and dig. $5
- Our Body: The Universe Within: Discover how fascinating the human body is with this unique, beneath-the-skin exhibit. Featuring 200 preserved human specimens, this 3D view of the body is typically only privileged to physicians. $5
- Let the Games Begin: Discover the origins and science behind America’s Big Six Sports including baseball, football, basketball, hockey, soccer and golf. The experience features interactive devices, hands-on displays and rare memorabilia. Free
- The Igloo: Chill at the Igloo where you can ice skate at the Polar Ice Rink, sled down Penguin Run, and shop the coolest products at the Arctic Promenade. Don’t forget to come back after 6 for a dance party featuring DJ Cool. PS The forecast for snow is high! $5
- Watercolors: The Art of Flowers: Discover how watercolor and flowers are used to re-create famous paintings. The exhibit, located at the Flower & Garden Pavilion, also features walk-through landscapes and classes taught by onsite floral experts. Free
