Some of my favorite foods are packed with essential nutrients like calcium, posphorus, protein, vitamins A, D and B12, riboflavin, and niacin. Because I really enjoy eating cheese, yogurt, ice cream, sour cream, and more I have to ensure I'm choosing Organic, low-fat varieties and balancing those foods with my diet.
As I mentioned last week, this month is Nationa... Read More »

Before you take a drink of your morning cup of java, you may want to think about the farmers and their families and how they are affected by current industry practices. These farmers receive wages that are not even sufficient to cover the cost of production, resulting in poverty an... Read More »

One of my favorite beverages (apart from water) is iced tea. But not just any iced tea...it has to be flavored. And one of my favorites is made by a company called Honest Beverages. The company offers several lines in addition to their bottled teas, including Honest Ade (organic thirst quenchers with around 50 calories per serving), Honest Kids (organic, low-sugar... Read More »

"I want a snnnaaaccckkk!" I can't tell you how many times my toddler says that in one day! And finding something healthy (that he'll eat) is always a challenge. I recently wrote about the types of food we eat and how we grocery shop. Because we avoid things like high fructose corn syrup, hydrogenated oils, and trans fats, we're limited when it comes to package... Read More »

I find it interesting that he even knows about candy, since he's had it very few times in his life. As a family, we're committed to providing our children with the health... Read More »

As a green mom, I'm always excited to learn about new companies who are striving to ensure their products are safe, natural, and eco-friendly. Because what I put on my skin is as important as what I put in my body, I strive to use natural body products when I can.
Wembé, a company that makes organic soaps from Paraguay, recently launched their line of eco-lux bran... Read More »

On most days, water is the only beverage I consume. Several years ago, when I was on a weight loss plan, I learned that I could cut a LOT of calories by sticking to water. I'm usually pretty good about sticking to water, but I do get tired of it. And when I'm "over" water, I usually turn to something that's not great for me. Drinking water also sets a good exa... A couple of weeks ago we were miserable with a stomach bug. I don't remember every feeling as sick as I did. ever. Because I had just underwent surgery, the doctor came very close to admitting me. And my son, who is only 2 1/2, didn't want to drink anything but juice...w... Read More »

I love to bake. I grew up baking with my mom and an easy bake oven. Children have this affinity for "grown-up" activities like cleaning, baking, and wearing mommy's shoes! My son is already showing interest in "helping" mommy out in the kitchen! We all know that children like snacks! As hard as I've tried to keep my son far away from cookies and cake...it's ... We took my son to Toys R Us a week or so ago to find him a toddler bed (that story is definitely best suited for another post). This wasn't his first time, but it was definitely the first time he actually had an opinion about the toys. He spoke to Elmo...LIVE, lunged on an Elmo chair, and WOULD NOT leave the "Wonder Pets" aisle. After much protesting, we walked ... Read More »

If you can believe it, I have baskets full of brand-new, never opened bath and body products. I still haven't figured out what I should do with them since they're full of parabens and phthalates. I can't in good conscience give them to someone or throw them away (can you imagine my carbon footprint?). For now, they've taken up permanent residence under my bathroom... Read More »
