Holiday Giveaway: Unstable Fables: Goldilocks & the 3 Bears

December 9, 2008

*This giveaway is now closed.  The winners are Jayme Isaacs, Jenn S., Ken Robinson, and christin.  Congratulations!*15869_goldilocks_box_art_3d

A few months ago I attended an exclusive screening of Tortoise VS Harer at the Jim Henson studios in Los Angeles courtesy of Role Mommy and Momlogic.  On December 13, the Weinstein Company and Genius Products will release the third DVD movie in the Unstable Fables series, entitled Goldilocks & the 3 Bears.  We actually saw a preview of this and it looks hilarious!  The entire series is a modern-day twist on the classic  Aesop’s Fables.

Here is a little more about the upcoming movie:

Spoiled T star Golidlocks moves in with the three bears to be filmed 24/7 for a “Big Brother”-type reality show in an effort to boost her career.  As they attempt to capture audiences, Goldilocks and the bear family must learn to get along if their show is going to be a ratings success.  Featuring the voice talents of Golden Globe nominee Brooke Shields, Tom Arnold, and Jamie Lynn Spears, Goldilocks & the 3 Bears is sure to be a hit among the entire family.

Goldilocks & the 3 Bears debuts on December 16 and will retail for $19.97.

Win It!  I have 5 copies of Goldilocks & the 3 Bears to give away!  Head on over to the site and watch the preview.  Come back here and leave me a comment about what you like most about the series or the movie. Comments will close on December 23, 2008 at 10 pm PST.  The winner will be chosen on December 24, 2008.  One comment per person, please. US residents only. Holiday Gift Idea & Giveaway: Toobeez

December 3, 2008

This giveaway is now closed.  Thanks for stopping by.  The winner is Reva Skie.  Congrats!

It’s so hard to believe that Christmas is less than one month away!  We’ve been doing some shopping for my son but nothing we buy him is going to top the Toobeez set he received!  Christmas came early for all three of us because we’ve literally been playing with these awesome tinkertoys nonstop!

deluxe-puppet-theater-57m

Toobeez are a life-sized construction building system with a multitude of uses.  Young and old will have fun using them as a toy, an educational tool, a teambuilding prop or even a therapeutic aid.  When I opened the box in front of my son he exclaimed, “Oh wow!” and that’s how I felt too!  My husband and I both were impressed by this open-ended, educational, innovative toy!

kingdom-castle-57m

swingset-cradle-57m

The building sets include interlocking tubes and spheres that can be put together to create an endless number of projects.  From simple cube shapes to something as complex as a super jet fighter you’re only limited by your imagination.  I always prefer open-ended toys that foster creativity and encourage learning and skill development.  This is the type of toy that a child can play with for years and still find new ways to play.

We received the 57 piece set which includes 32 tubes, 20 connector hubs, 4 slide-on curtains, a multimedia training CD, and 2 Project Connect Activity Workbooks in a portable carrying bag.  Here are a couple of projects we built together.  We’ve barely skimmed the surface of endless play possibilities!

Playing with Toobeez encourages creative thought, promotes critical thinking, develops coordination and motor skills, enhances problem solving and promotes social play.  I don’t often purchase large, expensive toys for my son because he’ll outgrow them or boredom will drive him to the next most popular toy on the market.  I don’t imagine my son will ever tire of these…and if he does…daddy and I will have fun playing with them!

There are several different kits available for purchase on the site.  Now through December 5 when you purchase the 57 piece kit which retails for $99.99, you’ll receive an extra 15 piece kit (valued at $24.99), the Big Idea Book, and free shipping!

toobeez_logo1Win It!  I am reluctantly departing with my 15 piece set (it’s still sealed in the box!) because I want one of you to experience Toobeez with your children.  Head on over to the site and take a look around.  Come back here and leave me a comment telling me the first project you will build if you win.  Comments will close on December 23, 2008 at 10 pm PST.  The winner will be chosen on December 24, 2008.  One comment per person, please. Holiday Review & Giveaway: Purry Logic

November 23, 2008

*Update*

This giveaway is now closed.  Thank you for stopping by and entering.  The winner is Gianna.  Congratulations.

There are two types of animal lovers…those who pal around with man’s best friend and those who prefer the independent, free-willed spirit of a furry feline!  This season, I have the perfect gift idea for all of the feline fans in your life.  Freelance designer and illustrator Jane Seabrook, the author of the popular Furry Logic book series, has just completed her fifth book, Purry Logic.  Young and old alike will love this clever little book filled with endearing feline satire and whimsical watercolor paintings.

I initially thought that this book was solely for children.  I was so wrong!  My son loves to look at the pictures and says “cat.”  I like the book for it’s hilariously accurate quips about the life of a cat and it’s relation to “life” in general.  I just love this saying:  ”I hear the call to do nothing, and am doing my best to answer it!”  I so wish I could say that about my life!  Such is the life of a cat!

Pick up a copy of Purry Logic today!  Retails for $9.95.

Win It!  One lucky reader will receive their very own copy of Purry Logic.  Head on over to the site and take a look around.  Come back and leave me a comment telling me if you’re a dog or a cat lover and which painting is your favorite! Comments will close on December 3, 2008 at 10 pm PST.  The winner will be chosen on December 4, 2008.  One comment per person, please. US residents only. Holiday Gift Idea & Giveaway: My Baby For Nintendo DS

November 19, 2008

*Update*

This giveaway is now closed.  Thanks for stopping by.  The winner is Elizabeth M.

Video games are all the rage with children and with Nintendo’s dual-screen handheld game console, DS, toting them has never been more convenient.  Some may argue that video games may not be as beneficial for development as other types of play.  I beg to differ.  I think video games, when carefully selected for age and gender, can teach children skills such as problem solving, trial and error, perseverance, and collaboration. Pretend play, in particular, can facilitate the early development of skills such as language and communication, social, and motor skills.

mybaby_minigamescreen

SouthPeak Games just released My Baby Girl and My Baby Boy for Nintendo DS. This is the virtual doll of the 21st century!  The focus of these games is on pretend play and life simulation as opposed to competition.  Children start by choosing a name, ethnicity (so PC!), and eye-color for their baby.  Then watch as baby smiles for the first time, walks for the first time, and grows up right before your child’s eyes (do they have a teen version? : )  Your child will be able to help nurture this baby with simple tasks like changing a diaper and feeding a baby from a bottle (lactivists may protest). If your child gets “stuck” he/she can elicit help from a pediatrician.  As the baby achieves developmental milestones, new age-appropriate activities become unlocked.  I tried this out and absolutely love it for it’s educational value.  This would be a perfect gift for my BF’s three little girls who adore dolls!

Green Me Review and Holiday Giveaway: BABYBEARSHOP

November 18, 2008

*Update*

This giveaway is now closed.  Thanks for stopping by.  The winner is Courtney W.  Congratulations.

I am an avid consumer of organic, all-natural foods and products.  While I have a couple of brands that I just love, I’m always on the lookout for new, up and coming companies who’ve committed to providing consumers with safe, effective products.

babybearshoppostcardusethis

I was recently introduced to a lovely mom-owned company called BABYBEARSHOP.  This luxurious skin care line for moms and tots features products that are 99% organic and 100% natural.  You won’t find artificial colors or fragrances, synthetic preservatives, genetically-modified ingredients, or parabens in any of the company’s products.  Plus the company strives to avoid the use of any allergens including dairy, gluten, soy, oats, or eggs.

Alternatively, all of the products at BABYBEARSHOP are comprised of the highest quality organic or wild-crafted essential oils.  The result is a line of skin care products that will leave your skin feeling as soft as a baby’s bum (and you can use them on that bum too!).

I love that the company is committed to the environment and does not test on animals, uses recyclable packaging, and plants a tree with every order to offset carbon emissions.  They’re also members of Co-op America, Safecosmetics, Organic Trade Association, Healthy Child Healthy World, PETA and Trees for the Future.

My son and I were able to try two wonderful products courtesy of BABYBEARSHOP.  The Cheeky Baby Butter is by far the best remedy for my son’s chronic diaper rashes that I’ve ever used (and I’ve tried many).  As soon as you put it on your hands and start rubbing it in, it melts (just like butter!).  My son has not had a red bum since I started using this product a week ago.  You only need to use a little bit and I think this will last us a long time!  The four once jar is on sale now for $27.20.

This holiday pick up the All the Better To Kiss You With eco lip balm to stuff those stockings!  They come in four yummy flavors:  Pepperminty, Lavendar Vanilla, Chai Mandarin, and Pomegranate.  The Santa Ana winds have been blowing here in Southern California so my skin, particularly my lips have been really dry and chapped.  I tried three of the flavors but my favorite is Pepperminty because it makes my lips tingle and soothes the irritation.  Each retails for $5.99 or pick up a set of three for $17.99.

*Update*

This giveaway is now closed.  Thank you for stopping by!  The winners are Adrienne Gordon, Charline S., Matthew Meisenhelder, Dan Smith, and Susan Ledet.  Congrats!

My husband and I love a good comedy.  This holiday season you and your kids will be able to sit down and enjoy the animated feature, The Nutty Professor, featuring the voice talents of Jerry Lewis and Drake Bell.  This modern animated sequel to the 1963 classic will be released on November 25, 2008 from Genius Products, Rainmaker Entertainment, and The Weinstein Company.  Here is a little synopsis:

nuttyprofessor-photoWhen Harold gets his hands on the recipe for his grandfather’s secret elixir, he creates a potion that transforms his personality to be more confident, cool, and suave.  Unfortunately this alter ego is also obnoxious and destructive.  Harold must face his insecurities and fears while learning to believe in himself without the help of any special concoctions.  This heart-warming, animated film, much like the 1963 classic is sure to be enjoyed by the whole family.

Be sure to pick up The Nutty Professor this holiday season!

holiday-return-address-labels

*Update*

This giveaway is now closed. Thank you so much for stopping by and entering.  The winner is Valerie Mabrey.  Congratulations!

Do you remember my recent review on the fabulous company, Mabel’s Labels?  Well…now that we’re counting down to the holidays, it’s time to start thinking about sending out Christmas cards and shopping for gifts.  Mabel’s Labels offers two holiday solutions you’re absolutely going to love!  The Holiday Return Address Labels simplify the process of sending those cards out.  The snowflake design is available in three cheerful colors (evergreen, rosy red, or winter night) and only available for purchase from October 20th through December 31st (so hurry up ok?).  A pack of 200 retails for $18.50.

hgtcelebrationHalf the time I forget to label my gifts which then means I have to find a pen, scribble something quick on the gift, and hope that piece of wrapping paper catches the eye of said gift recipient.  Why not avoid the messy confusion of who gave what with their festive Holiday Gift Tags.  They are available in four holiday designs (Snowy Day, Festive Sparkles, Snowflakes, and Celebration) and can be customized with any information you choose.   They are also available from October 20th through December 31st.  Twenty four gift tags retail for $18.50.

Win It!  One very, very lucky reader will have to beg, borrow, and plead to win a set of 24 Holiday Gift Tags. Just head on over to the site and take a look around.  Come back here and leave me a comment telling me about another product that looks interesting (please choose something other than the holiday labels).   Comments will close on November 18, 2008 at 10 pm PST.  The winner will be chosen on November 19, 2008.  One comment per person, please.
