I don’t want the public to see the world they live in while they’re in the Park. I want to feel they’re in another world – Walt Disney
From the moment I step into the park, I am transported to that magical world Walt Disney talked about. Despite the fact that I’ve been going to Disneyland since I was a child, I still feel that overwhelming excitement. I love the familiarity of the park, yet each visit is filled with new memories.
Last year, one of my dreams came true…I visited the Walt Disney World Resort for the very first time with my parents and my children. Little did I know how incredibly special that visit would become, since it was one of my last memories of my children with their grandfather.
If you’ve spent any amount of time at the resort, you understand how expansive and all-encompassing it is. I couldn’t begin to guess how much time it would take to see every show, ride every ride, and experience all that the resort has to offer. After spending a week at the resort last year, I knew I wanted to visit again…and again!
Because I had my children with me last year, we didn’t spend as much time at Epcot, a fascinating park unlike any I’ve frequented. The park, which encompasses an area twice the size of Magic Kingdom, was “built to embody the ideals and values” of the conceptual Utopian city of the future dreamed up by Walt Disney. The park is divided into two sections, Future World and World Showcase, and each were designed after the exhibits found at world expos.
Future World is a fantastic display of “technological advancements, innovation, and wonder,” while World Showcase is an inspirational collection of shops, attractions and restaurants from 11 countries around the world. Not realizing how large the park was during our first visit, I vowed to spend a significant amount of time should I ever go back.
During my trip to Orlando with Disneynature and Global Resort Homes, we were given a free day at the resort, and naturally, I chose to spend a majority of it at Epcot. The park is entirely family-friendly in nature, as are all of the parks at the resort, but if there is one park that I knew I’d enjoy sans kids, it’s this one. From the diverse, ethnic foods to the futuristic attractions, Carrie, Liz, Laura, Sara, and I had an amazing day! Here are some photos from our “grown-up” trip to Epcot!
I’ll leave you with one final shot…it’s a gorgeous Disney-inspired Dooney & Bourke handbag my friend Carrie picked up while at the park. It’s on my must-have list…Check!
Have you ever been to a Disney Park sans children? Would love to hear about your experience!

I Love Epcot and Disney parks, but am seriously in LOVE with that Disney Bag!!! When in my 20’s, (before marriage and kids), I had an annual pass to Disneyland. It was great!!! Shopping, BIG KID RIDES. Now, I avoid the shops and never get to ride Space Mountain.

Wow, it looks amazing. I never think of Epcot when thinking of a Disney vacation. But since we are trying to plan something, I will have to add this to my list.

What lovely photos – I’ve never set foot in Epcot, believe it or not. Looks like that was a mistake!

That looks incredible! I have never been to any of the Disney parks, but hopefully one day that will change. Thanks for sharing those beautiful photos.

I am so in love with EPCOT. That was such a fantastic day. Each time I throw my purse over my shoulder, I think about my #DisneyGlobalEvent friends and our magical day. <3

You know, I actually think I enjoyed Epcot more as an adult than I did as a child. We are planning a trip back now that our second son is old enough to enjoy it. I really loved this post and it reminded me how badly I want to visit again!
