One of my kids all-time favorite films is Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs. The imaginative film about larger-than-life food raining from the sky inspired laughs and an important message about cherishing what makes you unique without compromising who you are. When we learned that Sony would be making a sequel, all my kids could talk about were the adorable, creatively-named Foodimals.
After it’s popular theatrical run, families can now enjoy the film over and over again. Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs 2 was released on Blu-ray and DVD earlier this year, and for a limited time, Walmart is offering an adorable Lunch Box Gift Set which will inspire children to take healthy lunches to school. Watch as my son and I unbox the new gift set:
One of the benefits of owning a beloved film on Blu-ray and/or DVD is the host of bonus features that the studio puts together in order to experience the film in new and exciting ways. My kids were particularly excited about the four mini-movies, two of which have never been seen. Also included are a host of special features (more so than most Blu-ray/DVD Combo Packs) including deleted film scenes, behind-the-scenes featurettes, interviews, and the making of the music video from Cody Simpson. The Combo Pack also includes two segments on imagining and creating the Foodimals.
Much like the original film, the story is lighthearted and kid-friendly and designed to entertain. The few messages that the film does support (i.e. listening to those you care about you, avoidance of judging someone based on a first impression) are subtle and approached in a way that is meaningful to children.
The Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs 2 Lunch Box Gift Set is currently available at Walmart for $24.96. Once you’ve picked up your lunch box, be sure to download these free printable lunch notes and placemats inspired by the film.
