Mitsubishi Introduces It’s New 100% Electric Car! *Giveaway*

I remember when a gallon of gas was just under $2.  With prices just over $4 and no sign of a reprieve, efficiency will definitely play a significant role in our future car purchasing decisions.  While we haven’t spent a lot of time researching available options, my husband and I will be looking for a car that’s affordable, reliable, efficient, and environmentally friendly.

Mitsubishi recently announced the release of it’s brand new 100% electric car. Traditionally, electric cars are more expensive than cars utilizing gasoline, however, the starting price for Mitsubishi’s new electric car is $29,125 with a tax credit that drops the price to $21,625 for the ES model and $23,625 for the SE model.  Here are some interesting facts I learned about the car:

1. The car can achieve top speeds of 80 mph.  The speed limit on California freeways is 65 mph so it’s nice to know that the electric car is versatile enough for city and highway driving.

2. The driving range for the car is 62 miles per charge.

3.  There are three charging options available, the least of which takes 30 minutes (full charge can be achieved in 7 hours)

3.  The car can seat 4 adult passengers

4. While compact, there is a small cargo area that can accommodate bags from trips to the grocery store.  The rear seats also fold flat for a larger cargo space.

I do a ton of driving and I could see the Mitsubishi i being useful for errands, trips to work, and local trips with the kids. My husband and I do make quite a few trips into LA and that drive is just long enough that it would require a charge before getting into the city so it wouldn’t be advantageous for those trips.

  3. Caryn! I so need this car for my new commute to work. I’m seriously cringing at how much gas I’ll be wasting just driving to and from work each week. I love that it can go 62 miles on one charge! P.S. {I miss you}

  6. Hi Caryn ~ I really like that the price point (with the tax credit) is more affordable for most people. Most of the electric cars on the market are still very expensive. Yes, 62 miles on a charge would be difficult for an LA commute but the car would be great for local errands, etc. Thanks for the fabulous giveaway too!

  224. We want an all-electric car for our second car (Our current only car is a Toyota Prius Hybrid, which is the one that would inevitably be used for long trips). I used to think hatchbacks were ugly (my family had a history of really bad woody wagons and the like) but they are so convenient and wonderful for stowing groceries and whatever else you want to haul around with you. And now they are looking pretty stylish as well! The fact that it seats 4 and is a 4 (or technically 5) door car is great, too… a lot of electric/efficient cars are teeny tiny in comparison! So, the Mitsubishi i has a lot of strong features that I would like in my next car.

  243. Saving money in gas for all the short trips we make. I went to the same location 3 times yesterday. It is only 3 minutes drive from my home. Imagine the gas I wasted!!
