Mimi’s Cafe Introduces Affordable Family Meals To-Go *Giveaway* Published on Tuesday, November 8, 2011 by

I can’t believe that we’re nearing the end of the year. We’re entering one of my favorite seasons, although this year is going to be quite different. I’m proud of how much I’ve experimented with foods this year…both at home and at restaurants across the country.

If I’m home during the day (a rarity), I am not stressed about making dinner. I do find myself struggling with creativity and find that very often, I’ll resort to my staples…whole wheat pasta and ground turkey breast…fish and rice…homemade chicken soup. The stress comes when I’m out…with the kids…and dinner has to be on the table 5 minutes ago because the kids are eating every snack in the refrigerator and closet. Yes…I’ve resorted to prepared meals out on those nights.

It’s rare that we’ll stop by a true fast food chain. While I definitely think that healthy options can be found (i.e. salads, chicken breast sandwiches), I’d much prefer to spend that money on a more wholesome, inspired meal. Fortunately, one of our favorite restaurants is now offering delicious, affordable Family Meals To-Go.

Mimi’s Cafe with it’s French-inspired menu is currently offering 10 Family Meals under $25. If you have four people in your family, that’s approximately 6ish dollars per person. Some of the options include their traditional Turkey Dinner, Chicken Parmesan, Garlic Shrimp Fettuccine, and more. Each meal serves 4-5 and includes either a soup or salad. Additional sides can be purchased for $3-$5.

Since I’m all about convenience, I ordered our meal online. I chose the Turkey Dinner with a tossed green salad. The meal included slow roasted turkey, mashed potatoes, gravy, cornbread dressing, and orange cranberry relish. It was ready in about 20 minutes and still warm when I brought it home.

The turkey was moist and soft, the cranberries a good blend of sweet and tart, and the dressing flavorful and home-cooked. The only thing we should have ordered was dessert.

While I think my husband’s family might consider it sacrilege to order a Thanksgiving meal from a restaurant, I would absolutely order a Turkey Dinner from Mimi’s Cafe if it was just the 4 of us.

Family Meals To-Go can be ordered online and many of them are under $25. For more information, just visit their website.
