Nancy O’Dell Launches Creative Memories Baby Line *Giveaway* Published on Friday, July 15, 2011 by

When my children were born, my desire was to capture each moment…each milestone.  I really delved into my passion for photography after I’d saved enough money to purchase a Digital SLR camera. Since then, I’ve taken thousands of photographs…many of which sit on my hard drive without ever being revisited.  The beauty of digital photography is the fact that I can take thousands of photographs.  Unfortunately, most of those never get printed.

When my son was a baby, I started a scrapbook to try to preserve those memories and moments.  It’s still a work in progress and I’ve yet to start my daughter’s scrapbook.  I actually really enjoy the creativity and thought involved with scrapbooking but it’s for lack of time that I haven’t completed either of my children’s books.

Yesterday, I spent the afternoon lunching and chatting with Nancy O’Dell about how she preserves her children’s memories. Through her partnership with Creative Memories, she’s created a line of products designed to make scrapbooking quick, easy, and fun.  “It’s so important to kids that you show them those photos…that family history.  Those pictures reinforce everything you want that child to know…that they are important…they matter…they belong to a family…they are loved.”  O’Dell’s new baby line is comprised of pre-decorated pages and frames which make it easy for parents to place a picture and write a few pieces of information to preserve their child’s memories. “I wanted to make it easy for busy parents…I wanted them to do it [scrapbook]“  At the same time, it was important to O’Dell that the book not be commercial in appearance.  She drew inspiration for the artwork that comprises the baby line from her mother’s baby book.  O’Dell describes herself as a 5th generation scrapbooker and has over 100 scrapbooks in her collection.

Upon viewing the baby scrapbook Nancy O’Dell had put together over the last week, I agree that it looks nothing like the commercial scrapbooks you find in stores today.  Nancy creatively chronicled her daughter’s important moments and milestones and the book is just beautiful.  The new baby line, which features a gender neutral album with pages and embellishments for boys or girls, was named after her daughter Ashby.

    My brother & sister-in-law just had their first child on Sunday (a girl!). My SIL is a huge scrapbooker and is in charge of the baby book, but I know my brother has a story to tell as well. The Ashby baby Girl quick book or Simply Said book would be a perfect way for him tell his daughter’s story, in his words!
