Our current in-theater movie options include animated films or flicks that are not kid-friendly, with little in-between.  When P&G and Walmart introduced Family Movie Night, I was excited about the possibility of not only being able to watch a wholesome movie with the hubby, but with my kids as they get older.

This Saturday night, Family Movie Night returns once again to NBC.  I actually watched Truth Be Told from a hotel room in NYC last month during a torrential thunderstorm and really enjoyed it!  Walmart and P&G created Family Movie Night to encourage families to come together for free, quality movies with important life lessons.  The soundtracks for the films feature top producers and artists and even the commercials are family-friendly!

The latest movie from P&G and Walmart is Field of Vision. The film stars Tony Oller as Tyler McFarland, Sinclair High School’s star quarterback, who learns through a malfunctioning video camera, that some of his teammates have been bullying Cory Walker (Joseph Adler), a troubled new transfer student.

The camera, which belongs to Tyler’s sister Lucy, begins to display mysterious footage, including a past that even Cory isn’t aware of.  Convincing Lucy’s mother and the rest of the family that the footage is not simply her imagination gone wild is going to be tricky.  The film details a moving and inspirational story about the challenges and rewards that come with doing the right thing.

I’ve now seen 5 of the 6 movies produced by Walmart and P&G and I think they get better with each film.  The characters are well-developed and the story is compelling. I found myself tearing up at various times throughout the movie as I became engrossed in the plot.  In an age where bullying is prevalent, the movie is relevant for today’s families.  Tyler’s commitment to doing the right thing is unwavering, despite the costs.  The film is a great starting point for families to discuss such issues as bullying and the importance of doing the right thing.
