A Childhood Favorite, A Grown-Up Movie, and A Red Carpet Premiere! Published on Thursday, June 9, 2011 by

Over the last few months, I’ve had the opportunity to share information about Disney’s latest film and DVD releases.  Next week, I am honored to attend what looks to be an amazing blogger event with Disney.  The 5-day schedule will include a host of activities including a screening and press junket for Winnie the Pooh, a screening and Q&A with DreamWorks for The Help, and the red carpet premiere of Cars 2.

Earlier this year, I got a teeny tiny sneak peek at a movie I absolutely cannot wait to see. I have loved Winnie the Pooh since I was a child, and the very fact that Disney created the latest film, based on three stories from A.A. Milne’s books, has me very excited.  While the film is not slated to open in theaters until July 15th, next week I will get to preview it in it’s entirety.  The press junket will include interviews, drawing demos, voice recordings, and activities with the directors, some of the voice talents, and animators.

It’s so rare that I actually get an opportunity to see a “grown-up” film in a theater.  I am really looking forward to seeing DreamWorks’ The Help.  The film is based on one of the most talked about books and a #1 New York Times best-selling phenomenon.  Starring Emma Stone, Viola Davis, and Ocatvia Spencer, the film chronicles the lives of three different but extraordinary women in Mississippi during the 1960s.  They build a friendship around a secret writing project that breaks societal rules and puts them at risk. I sooo wish I would have read the book….I may still have time!

The action-packed weekend will conclude with an event I can only tell my son about afterwards. Every time we pass a billboard for Cars 2, he asks me if it’s out now so we can see it.  Friday evening we’ll screen Cars 2 to prep for the press junket on Saturday which includes group interviews with Director John Lasseter, Owen Wilson, Emily Mortimer, Larry the Cable Guy, and Eddie Izzard.  The evening will conclude with the red carpet premiere and after-party.

I’m certainly leaving so much out.  But please follow the rest of these amazing women next weekend during the second Disney blogger event.

We’ll also be tweeting with the hashtag #DisneyDreamWorksEvent

No compensation was received for this post. I was invited to the media event courtesy of Disney.
