Savvy Tips for Traveling With Kids Published on Tuesday, January 11, 2011 by

Before my husband and I had children, we spent almost a year working and traveling in Europe.  But that wasn’t our first overseas trip. We honeymooned in Tahiti and cruised to Mexico. We’ve also traveled through several US states.  Having children has definitely changed the types of trips we take, but it hasn’t put our travels on hold. Last year, my husband and I courageously took not one, but two trips to the east coast with a toddler and an infant.  We braved the +5 hour plane trips and even threw a four day road trip into the mix. So how did we do it? Patience, planning and a lot of “letting go.”

Last week, I had an opportunity to chat with style expert, author, and TV personality Amy Tara Koch on “no fuss travel” with kids.  She had some very useful tips that I thought I’d share with you.  Amy’s three key arsenals include patience, preparation, and packing like a pro.

KEEP IT AT THE READY: MOM MUST HAVES

-Be prepared for every situation: delays, congestion, stains and bad behavior

-Pack a supply of multi-use pads and pacifiers for babies

-Have Bribery/forbidden foods to squelch explosive situations (gummies, Chocolate, Lollipops)
