Gleekin’ Out! *Giveaway* Published on Friday, October 15, 2010 by

This giveaway is now closed. Thanks for stopping by! The winners are Natalia and Katy. Congrats!

I’m really late jumping on the Glee bandwagon…but in the last week since I received the Complete 1st Season, I’m almost done because it’s that good!  The series, which premiered last year, won a Golden Globe for Best TV Series and is now in it’s second season (which I haven’t watched yet because I’m trying to make it through the first season).

I’ve always had a passion for music and dancing and Glee brings both of those together in a unique way.  Who would have thought a show about glee club could be so funny and inspirational?  Amazon has a terrific summary of the series:

Will Schuester (Matthew Morrison) is a teacher at an Ohio high school who decides to coach the glee club (or show choir) that he belonged to when he was a student. The initial members are a ragtag bunch of social outcasts: born-for-Broadway diva Rachel (Leah Michele), big-voiced Mercedes (Amber Riley), wheelchair-bound Artie (Kevin McHale), stuttering goth girl Tina (Jenn Ushkowitz), and closeted gay Kurt (Chris Colfer). But things get interesting when the club starts to prepare for the sectional competition and manages to add some of the school’s popular kids: quarterback Finn (Cory Monteith), his bullying teammate Puck (Mark Salling), and cheerleaders Quinn (Dianna Agron), Santana (Naya Rivera), and Brittany (Heather Morris), the final three planted as spies by Schuester’s rival, internationally acclaimed cheerleading coach Sue (Jane Lynch). Meanwhile, a triangle develops among Will, his wife (Jessalyn Gilsig), and the school’s obsessive-compulsive guidance counselor, Emma (Jayma Mays). Other relationships get tangled, faces are slushied, and Sue plots the club’s destruction while tossing out plenty of zingers.

Despite the fact that the show surrounds a high school glee club, it’s appeal to adults is in it’s phenomenal musical performances and moving stories. I am already hooked on the show and I continue to be in awe of the musical talent.  Glee has featured a number of celebrity guest appearances including Kristin Chenoweth, Eve, Josh Groban, Jonathan Groff, Neil Patrick Harris, Olivia Newton-John, Idina Menzel, and Molly Shannon.

Glee: The Complete First Season features 22 uninterrupted episodes and exclusive bonus materials including extended episodes, a sing-along karaoke, a behind-the-scenes look at “The Power of Madonna” episode, Glee Makeovers, never-before-seen “Sue’s Corners” and a dance tutorial titled “Staying in Step with Glee.”  It retails for $69.99.

Win It! TWO of you will win Glee: The Complete First Season!  Simply leave me a comment with your favorite Gleek moment!  Comments will close on October 30th, 2010 at 11:59 PM PST. GAH! How can I pick a FAVORITE?! I loved so many moments in the first season. But if I had to choose, I’d pick the Defying Gravity duet with Rachel and Curt. I just love that song!

But then there’s the Poker Face duet with Rachel and her mother… or the whole Kristen Chenowith episode… Ahhhhhh the first season was so great!

I just started watching Glee. I know I am the last person on the planet to do so but in my defense we didn’t watch television last year. I totally dig this show now though. I loved the lady ga-ga episode. Funny stuff!

The best moments on Glee have been the relationship moments between Kurt and his dad. They show such a beautiful example of love between a dad & teenage son, including the times when it’s difficult or they don’t get along. LOVE THIS SHOW!

Anytime Brittany opens her mouth is my favorite! That girl is hilarious! Like on the recent episode with John Stamos, when she said, “I rinse my mouth out with soda after I eat. I was pretty sure Dr. Pepper was a dentist.” Sooo funny!
