Walking With Dinsoaurs Returns To Southern California Published on Thursday, September 2, 2010 by

I have a hard time getting my mind around the concept of animals weighing 130,000 pounds and towering 36 feet tall.  After much anticipation, Walking With Dinosaurs opened at the Honda Center in Anaheim last night. Based on the award-winning BBC TV series, Walking With Dinosaurs had fans roaring with excitement.

Walking With Dinosaurs is a spectacular journey back into a time where dinosaurs prevailed.  Featuring 10 species (17 dinosaurs in total), travel with Paleontologist through the Triassic, Jurassic, and Cretaceous periods to see the phenomenon that is dinosaurs.  Watch as a mother Plateosaurus protects her hatchlings and Utahraptors prey on another dinosaur (in pecking order, or course).  Listen as the Tyrannosaurus Rex roars!

The dinosaurs are life-sized and created to be scientifically accurate.  Their movements are surprisingly graceful and realistic.  The show was a great blend of historical facts and modern entertainment.

Remember the little conversation my son and I had last week?  Well, for the first 10 minutes, my son hid underneath his seat…and we hadn’t even seen a dinosaur yet.  By the end of the show he was sitting at the edge of his seat, fascinated by the sheer magnificence of the dinosaurs.

The length (2 hours with a 20 minute intermission) is perfectly suited for children.  The show is entertaining and educational and will appeal to adults and children alike.

Walking With Dinosaurs will run through September 5, 2010 at Honda Center and end it’s North American at Staples Center from September 9-12th, 2010.  Tickets are on sale now and can be purchased via Ticketmaster.  You can also find a limited number of discounted tickets for performances at Staples Center on Goldstar.
