Oh My Aching Feet (No More!) *Giveaway* Published on Thursday, October 8, 2009 by

This giveaway is now closed.  Thanks for stopping by.  The winner is Mishia.  Congrats!

As a nurse who works 12+ hours on my feet, quality, supportive shoes are a must. And to be honest, I haven’t been wearing the appropriate shoes for a woman who stands and walks as much as I do.  It wasn’t until another provider commented on the lack of support my shoes were providing, that I started thinking about looking into other shoes.  There are many products I either would not spend money on, or would rather wait until they’re on sale to purchase (hence the fact that you won’t see certain types of products reviewed on my blog).  However, when it comes to shoes…for myself and for my family…I am willing to spend money.

I recently had an opportunity to try out the newly launched Timberland PRO Renova series, designed for women who work in professional caregiver roles.  If you’re a doctor, nurse, dentist, etc. these shoes are for you!  If you’re a mom who cares for children, these shoes are for you!  Here is a little more information about the shoes from the site:

Renova features unique Anti-Fatigue Technology that offers all-day standing comfort and support. Timberland PRO designed these shoes with the belief that by taking care of your feet, you are taking care of the rest of your body. The shoes are slip-resistant, easily washable and feature an exclusive Anti-Fatigue Technology, which offers superior shock absorption and exceptional leg and back support.

Timberland offers three different styles based on the type of shoe you prefer when standing for long periods of time.  I chose the Caregiver series, which is a slip-on clog because I like a little flare and style, even when I’m working.  But if you’re more the athletic type, the Provider series may be just the shoe for you.  Here is just a brief overview of each style (pay attention…hint hint!).

caregiverCaregiver – A series of clogs that offer the convenience of a slip-on, but ensure a secure fit with a built-in back strap.   The anatomically shaped oblique toe box allows room for the forefoot to spread, a slip-resistant outsole provides necessary safety protection and an Agion® anti-microbial treated footbed cover seeks to eliminate bacteria.  SRV $60.

provider

Provider – A line of athletic-inspired shoes that features two styles: one with a leather upper and one with a synthetic upper, both treated with water-resistant material for easy cleaning.  An anatomically shaped, athletic toe box provides superior comfort, a SafeGripTM slip-resistant outsole grips both wet and dry surfaces for ease and mobility and an Agion® anti-microbial treated footbed cover seeks to eliminate bacteria.  SRV $80.

professionalProfessional – A premium line of shoes made with full-grain leathers and microsuede upper linings for outstanding style and durability. The Professional series shoes feature an anatomically shaped oblique toe box, the SafeGripTM slip-resistant outsole and a ScotchgardTM protector by 3M for superior stain resistance.  In addition, a Dryz® IntellitempTM footbed cover regulates temperature and manages moisture and bacteria, while the Bi-Fit® Tridensity footbed cradles the heel, and offers arch support and forefoot flexibility.  SRV $100.

Here is my take on the Caregiver series.  I received a pair in Navy.  I love the way they look.  Gone are the days of nursing and medical shoes looking as such. The clogs are fashionable enough to wear outside of the hospital (and I will!).  They’re relatively lightweight (but not as light as, say, a pair of Crocs), but sturdy and durable.  The shoes have a nice squishy, removable insert, and the shoe itself is built with a lot of support.  I also like the ability to wear them with or without a strap.  The soles are rubber and have “grip” to prevent clumsy people like me from slipping.  I’ll be honest that I haven’t spent an entire day in them yet, but the few hours I have worn them, I’ve been very comfy!  Gone are the days of sore feet…but now what excuse can I give to have my husband rub my feet?  Oh…and did I mention they come with a cute little buffer brush?

The company offers a 30 guarantee…but I doubt you’ll need it!

For more information on the Timberland PRO Renova series, including nationwide retailers, please visit their website.

Win It! One of you will win a pair of Timberland PRO Renova Series shoes and a recycled Renova tote bag, made from 100% recycled PET.  Simply leave me a comment/story detailing why you deserve a new pair of shoes, along with the style of shoe in the Renova series that best suits you.  Comments will close on October 23, 2009 at 10 PM PST.  One comment per person, please (unless you do the extra credit). I have extremely flat feet–and am significantly overweight (though I am working on that–thanks to medifast–down 21.5 pounds already in 4 weeks!). So my feet HURT, HURT, HURT all the time. Makes walking hard, exercising hard…I wish I could just cut them off!

I would be torn between the Renova Professional in black so I would be comfortable during the work day….and the Provider which might help me work out because my feet would not hurt!

Women’s Renova Professional Series Slip On in black look fantastic. I often go barefoot because I can’t find shoes to fit my flshy arch and wide feet. Most shoes hurt me and someone actually made a rec for these shoes many months ago (a nurse friend in my son’s preschool). I ended up buying men’s Keen tennis shoes last winter and I wear Teva’s in the summer but these look more stylish than both those options. Chasing after a 2 yr. old (and 9 and 11 yr. olds) all day take their toll on mummy’s feet.

I am in bad need of a new pair of good walking shoes. Right now my most comfortable pair of shoes are my steel-toed boots I have to wear for my work. And that is not saying much. I would love to try the Women’s Renova Provider Lace Up shoes. These look very comfortable and great for walking. Thank you for the awesome giveaway.

I really need and “deserve” these very comfortable shoes because I have been dealing with major hip and lower back problems ever since I had my son 2 years ago. I am hoping to finally find a shoe that will be good for my feet, back, and hip area. I need something comfy yet very supportive! Thanks so much for the chance. I’m actually going to enter this on the behalf of my 26yo daughter. She has been working in a grocery store for 7+ years now as a manager. She has horrible spider veins as a result of it. Which means she spends way too much time on her feet. She just had my 2nd granddaughter on 8/13 and has to go back to work on 10/18 which I know she dreads, but she needs to do so for the income.
The Women’s Renova Professional Series Slip On in Black would be perfect for her.

I deserve a new pair of shoes because I’ve been having trouble with the underside of my foot. Wakling is very painful and my foot needs to have room to spread out. This shoe looks very comfortable. My plan is to get a half size larger to accommodate my foot. The Women’s Renova Professional Series Slip-ons Suit me best.

Well, I don’t deserve these shoes, but my Mom does. She’s over 60, and still working as nurse full-time. She doesn’t complain, but I know it is hard on her, especially on her feet (she’s always had foot problems). If I had a million dollars, I’d give it to her to retire, but I don’t. maybe I could give her these shoes instead. I bet she would like the Caregiver shoes best.

  • by Thao October 9, 2009 at 8:23 pm

I don’t like wearing girl shoes at work but when I meet with clients, I wear them to look professional. When I don’t have to meet with anyone, I wear tennis shoes with business attire. I know it looks bad but it is comfortable. I like the Women’s Five Star Parkset shoes because it would be comfortable enough to wear daily but also look nice with business clothes.

  • by maureen October 10, 2009 at 8:10 am

I have DVT and plantar fasciitis. therefore it is hard for me to find a pair of shoes that will help me whn I walk and accomodate the compression stocking that i wear on my left leg due to the blood clot. These shoes sound like they might be the ticket for some comfort.

The Women’s Caregiver Slipon. Ineed a size 10. The color doesn’t really matter. I liked the navy but no 10 available. I think I deserve a new pair of shoes because a year ago in June 2008 I received 2nd and 3rd degree burns on my legs and spent the summer in the hospital. My legs are weak and new shoes of this caliber would surely help!

What comfortable looking shoes. The way they’re made, they look like they all but launch you into each step! :D

Why do I deserve a pair of Renova series shoes? Because I had Gastric Bypass Surgery on June 1 of this year, and between the weight I lost before surgery, and since surgery, it totals 117 pounds! Really! No lie! So besides needing new clothes, I can’t believe my feet shrunk! I suffered from lymphodema, and for the longest time, all I could wear was either a seven year old pair of sneakers, or slippers. So now I have the opportunity to wear nice clothes and decent shoes. These would truly be a cherished gift, and I’d be more than grateful for them.

I really don’t have any professional-looking shoes that are also comfortable enough to spend hours on my feet. Do I deserve a new pair of shoes? I believe I do. I have not been able to afford to spend money on myself since losing my job due to a downsizing about six months ago. For the last few months, I have been trying to start my own business…but it has been EXTREMELY difficult in the current economy.
Thanks so much for the fabulous giveaway! I would be SO thrilled to win the Women’s Renova Professional Series Slip On in Chestnut.

Honestly, I would give these shoes to my mother. About 2 yrs ago, my mom came over in an ice storm to help me with my 9 month old at the time. She slipped and fell and seriously injured her foot. She was in the ER and it was broken. It has NEVER been the same…and I feel terribly guilty. I REALLY would like these shoes for her! PLEASE!
    I think I’d get her tennis shoes…

As a stay-at-mom of an almost 3-year-old and a 16-month-old with another baby on the way, I am on my feet all the time! And with pregnancy, I’m wearing out quickly too. Pregnant women in their mid 30s can sympathize: everything hurts! I was just telling my husband today that my feet are killing me. And it’s probable that the shoes I’m wearing just aren’t made for my lifestyle!
The Caregiver shoes would be perfect for me!

  • by Diane R. October 11, 2009 at 6:08 pm

I would like the Renova Provider. While I am retired–NOT-I take care of my two young grandchildren long hours all week. This involves lots of ferrying, walking and chasing them around. Oh yes, and I also volunteer at the zoo. Six hours of walking around talking to kids and people at a time. A year or so ago I had bunion surgery that kept me in a cast for a long time. I’m not sure why an operation on the foot required a cast from toes to knee, it did. My foot is much improved, but still not quite perfect, so I have to be careful with shoes. This new line sound perfect., and that’s why I would like to win.

  • by susan October 11, 2009 at 6:50 pm

I deserve a new pr of shoes because I’m on my feet @ LEAST 8 hrs a day – I’m a Nurse in a Day Habilitation clinic serving children from age 6 wks to 5 yrs, most with @ least 1 or more disabilities. Some of our children have developmental delays, most receive Therapy (Speech, Occupational & Physical) and a few are very nutritionally compromised when they come to us so are receiving their nutrition via tube feedings. Almost all of our kids need to be picked up/assisted into chairs etc. I love these shoes, they look like they have great support I especially like the ‘Women’s Caregiver’ slip-ons. :)

    I’d love:
Women’s Renova Professional Series Slip On (black)
    Style #85613
    $100.00

These look like the perfect work shoe! I love a slip-on shoe and the last pair of shoes I bought haven’t held up well at all; the insoles ripped during the first month and the soles are barely hanging on by a thread now. I’ve looked at other shoes but I can’t seem to find something stylish and comfortable since I wear them for 8 hours 5 days a week. These look like they’d fit the bill.

I would say I deserve the shoes because I recently got diagnosed with a rare genetic disorder. All of my joints are unstable and finding shoes that both fit, support and look good is practically impossible. I like the Caregiver Series Slip On

I think I deserve these shoes because I have to work on my feet 8 hours a day and they are simply killing me. I haven’t found anything to take the pain away yet, maybe these would work.

I have horrible feet. My right foot has a bunyon, which causes pain, and an overlapping toe, which causes corns…which cause pain. And I now have plantar fascitis as well…more in my lef foot than right. So, I REALLY need a nice supportive pair of shoes! I like the brown slip ons.
