For My Little Princess Published on Wednesday, October 7, 2009 by

I never had an opportunity to decorate a nursery for my son.  It wasn’t until he was over a year that he even had his own room.  We lived much of his first year in a one bedroom apartment and he happily co slept with us (he’s still been known to sneak into our bed at 3 am some nights!). Now that we have more room, I have the flexibility to paint the room pink or throw princess borders around the edges.  I’m still undecided, but it’s nice to know I have options.

If you’re looking for an affordable way to design your baby’s nursery, check out the Babies R Us’ new Little Boutique line (for princes and princesses).  The line offers the flexibility to “mix and match accessories in a variety of coordinating motifs, patterns, and colors.”  As our babies grow, we’ll probably want to change the look of their rooms a number of times.  I like the fact that the items are affordable (many items are under $20) and interchangeable (many of the items could be used for a boy and a girl’s room!)

The Little Boutique collection is available online and at all Babies R Us stores nationwide.  Items include area rugs, wall decor, message boards, growth charts, lamp stands/shades, storage solutions, shelving, and more.  You can choose from themes like sports, princess, vintage, and safari.  Here are some of my favorite items:

We were in a similar situation with our firstborn. We had a one bedroom apartment too. For our second kid we were told two separate times that he would be a girl so we decorated his room in all princessy sorts of colors. His name was supposed to be Sophia. He turned out to be Alan, and we redecorated :-) Thanks for the tip on the babies R us stuff.
