How About a Night Out At the Movies? *Giveaway*

Posted by Caryn Bailey 281 Comments

This giveaway is now closed.  Thanks for stopping by.  The winner is  CMC.  Congrats!

I have a vague recollection of the last movie my husband and I saw (except I can’t remember what it was!).  Pretty soon it’s about to get even more difficult since we’re about to have a baby!  However, for those of you who aren’t about to have a baby, and would like a night out at the movies, you may want to consider a new promotion that General Mills is offering.

Going to the movies is expensive.  Right?  I remember when it was $5.00 to see a movie (and I’m not even that old!).  It’s not uncommon to find tickets upwards of $10-12.  Yikes!  No wonder we don’t go to the movies as often.  Between the 2 of us and dinner, that’s one very expensive night (and we don’t even have to pay for a babysitter!).

Starting in November, you can receive a free movie ticket when you buy 2 specially marked packages of General Mills’ Cereals.  Once you’ve made your purchase, visit http://new.emoviecash.com/gmills/ and enter the code found inside each box of cereal.  Then print your free movie certificate (good for admission to any movie at participating theaters).

art-boxes

The brands participating in this promotion include select sizes of Honey Nut Cheerios, Cinnamon Toast Crunch, Lucky Charms, Trix, and Reese’s Peanut Butter Puffs.  If your family eats any of these, it really isn’t much effort to get your free movie ticket.  You simply do what you normally do.  I for one LOVE Honey Nut Cheerios!  Easy right?

To find a participating theater, just log onto http://emoviecash.com/dis_locator/

movie_logoWin It! One of you will win a “Movie Moment” prize pack that will include 4 e-movie cash certificates ($12 each) and one (1) free coupon for a General Mills cereal (ARV $54).  Simply leave me a comment with your favorite movie moment.  Comments will close on November 12, 2009 at 10 PM PST.  One comment per person, please (unless you do the extra credit). US residents only. Duplicates and comments not including the above information will be disqualified. Comments are moderated. If you don’t see your comment in a reasonable amount of time, send me an email. Bloggers and non-bloggers may enter. If you don’t want to leave your email address, please be sure to check back for my announcement on the winner. Please note that winners must respond within 48 hours of being announced/contacted or another winner will be drawn.Want an extra entry? Do any or all of the following and receive an extra entry for each one.

main entry: Miy favorite movie moment would have to be when My daughter & I went to see “Home Alone” in 1990 starring Macaulay Culkin, Joe Pesci, Daniel Stern. We were in the navy then and living in Charleston , South Carolina. And my daughter was 9 years old then. My husband was on out a cruise and I remember he had called us by phone when they pulled into port for 2 days to talk and my daughter was so blue missing him and it was right before the holidays and was crying as they ened the phone conversation and he tried to cheer her up saying he had just went a few nights before and saw the movie and ask me to take her to see it and said it would cheer her up because it was so funny. My daughter and I went to see it the next night and it sure did the trick because we laughed at that movie so hard our stomachs hurt. And she said as we left the theater her dad was right it was a great funny movie. And to this day her now being 28 years old she still says that movie is her favorite and will always make her think of her dad when he was gone and called her and told her to go see the movie to cheer her up. great giveaway which I’d love to take now my 5 yr old grandson to see a good movie for a holiday memorie together to as well. thanks

When I was about 10 and I was in the backseat in between my two brothers at the drive in, we were watching a Disney movie. In the movie suddenly some bats flew out and startled me. My arms went up and inadvertently threw soda all over my brothers. They didn’t like it but it’s one of my best memories at the movies (because I got to pay them back for all the ornery things they had done to me)…LOL!.

I love movies!! It is so difficult to select a favorite moment. But great scenes like Rhett Butler’s “Frankly, my dear, I don’t give a damn.” Or the amazing cinematography in Citizen Caine. Or a loving relationship in a movie like “Always.” Or the seriously great stuff like Shindler’s List. Movies teach us, entertain us, complete us, make us happy, make us sad. I love movies, don’t you?

The scene in The Big Chill where the friends are cleaning up after dinner, dancing around & singing Ain’t Too Proud to Beg is a great one as well. Then who could forget the classic scene in When Harry Met Sally whene Meg Ryan fakes it in the diner and the woman says “I’ll have what she’s having”, too funny! But my absolute favorite is probably the fantastic “Play it again Sam” scene from Casblance. It never fails to make me tear up!

My family has a couple of movies that we watch over and over again.
White Christmas and National Lampoons Christmas.
For generations we have watched White Christmas together and now that Great Grandparents, Grand Parents and some family members are gone we remember the good times we all had while watching the movie.

Now National Lampoon Christmas, we all know how stressful the holidays can be, National Lampoons Christmas just puts everyone in a good mood.

Oh my gosh this thread is so fun! I love reading everyone’s answers, some of my favorite movies listed here.
I can’t say just one so I will go with a few.

In the “Notebook” when Ryan Gosling tells Rachael Mc Adams, “It wasn’t over,it STILL isn’t over” then they kiss.

In “WHEN HARRY MET SALLY” when he tells her at the New years eve party he loves her and goes on the list ..I love that you get cold when it’s 71 degrees out. I love that it takes you an hour and a half to order a sandwich. I love that you get a little crinkle above your nose when you’re looking at me like I’m nuts. I love that after I spend the day with you, I can still smell your perfume on my clothes. And I love that you are the last person I want to talk to before I go to sleep at night. And it’s not because I’m lonely, and it’s not because it’s New Year’s Eve. I came here tonight because when you realize you want to spend the rest of your life with somebody, you want the rest of your life to start as soon as possible.

In “SENSE AND SENSABILITY” when Edward tells Elinor ” My heart is and always will be ……yours” and she smiles up at him from her crying hysterical fit.. <—awesome movie!

In "mYSTIC PIZZA" when Julia Roberts dumps fish in Charlies car because she thinks he is cheating.

In "Sarah Plain and Tall" When Jacob goes to dance with Sarah at the church picnic.

I just love movies ,everything from Twilight (yummy Edward Cullen) to Love comes softly.

My all-time favorite movie is “Star Wars” but I can’t pick just one moment, not very easily, so I’ll pick my favorite holiday movie moment. I watch “When Harry Met Sally” every New Year’s Eve, and I just love it when Harry comes to Sally at the party and says, “And it’s not because I’m lonely, and it’s not because it’s New Years Eve. I came here tonight because when you realize you want to spend the rest of your life with somebody, you want the rest of the life to start as soon as possible.” Awwww.
