Get In Shape Ladies! *Giveaway*

October 22, 2009 by Caryn

This giveaway is now closed. Congrats to our winner, Sharon Jones!

So now that summer is over, have you started to “let yourself go” just a bit?  I am obviously not exercising at the moment (except for running around after my two year old!) but I always remember slacking a bit once the weather cooled down.  Warm sweaters and jeans can hide a lot and as the holidays approach, I always found myself sneaking in an extra cookie here or foregoing the gym a week there.

I like to offer my readers a chance to try different products, that otherwise you may not get exposed to.  I have not tried Banglz and thus cannot attest to their effectiveness, however, one of you is going to be able to get a chance to check them out (I’d love for whoever wins to come back and share their experience).

FitnessUwear is a mom-owned business offering a unique twist on exercise.  Two stay-at-home moms wanted to find a way for other moms to fit exercise into their busy schedules.  And who isn’t busy?

banglzBanglz are 1/2 pound fashionable weighted bracelets women can wear during a workout or even just throughout your day.  Sounds cool and effortless to me!  The extra weight you’re carrying is supposed to help women burn more calories and strenghten muscle tone. They look like bracelets from the site (although I can’t tell you how they look in person), and come in a variety of colors and prints.  You’ll also find 1 pound Banglz for your ankles and slimming shape wear on the site.

The 1/2 pound wrist Banglz retail for $24.95 and are available for purchase on the site.

zen_logoWin It! One of you will win a set of wrist Banglz. Simply leave me a comment with one tip on how we busy moms and women can fit exercise into our busy schedules AND whether or not you think this is something that could be useful to you (I want your honest opinions!)!   Comments will close on November 5, 2009 at 10 PM PST.  One comment per person, please (unless you do the extra credit). Well, I seem to do best when I have someone to workout with of if I have a deadline/goal- like this summer of competing in a triathlon. I’m not sure if these Banglz would work or not, but I think that I would like to try it.

The truth is we have to set time aside for ourselves. Whether I get up early in the AM or stay up later, oor use the time the kids are napping. There’s got to be “ME” time to exercise.

The only tip I can suggest is fit a time in for just you. I give myself a certain time at night 2 times a week, to do my workout. Sometimes the kids will workout with me. Have to just commit to a time and try to stick with it. Sometimes I can and sometimes I can’t due to an appt or homework. just need to adjust my time of the day. And yes the Banglz will be perfect addition for my workout. I am just starting out with small weights

I keep my kids with me when I exercise (no other choice) so they get used to it and are okay with letting me have 20-30 minutes to work up a sweat. That way I can fit it in when I’m able and they get to see their mom working out a couple times a week (and not complaining about it)

I love to wear jewelry and if it strengthened my arms at the same time, all the better. :)

You have to schedule the exercise in like you would any other appointment. Gotta make the time! As far as using these products, I think they would be useful for me. I have weighted gloves that I wear during some in home workouts but they are just a bit too snugh and I have a hard time wearing my heart rate monitor watch with them. I think these Banglz would work in that situation. I don’t have any ankle weights and want them so I’ll be sure to take a peek at their website. Thanks!

With a toddler in the house (and 4 sons total) it is hard to find time to exercise. I walk on a treadmill, and this allows me to have my eyes on them while I exercise. Our local Gyms and YMCA offer free childcare while you exercise, so that is an option for many mothers. I think these would work to tone up the arms…I would like to try them.

Mow the lawn with a push mower. The noise won’t wake the baby and there’s no exhaust.

    15 Lori Barnes on October 23rd, 2009 8:28 am

These would be very usefull to me especially when cleaning the house and walking in the neighborhood.. A great time to fit excersize into a busy schedule is before everyone everyone wakes up.

If you have a little one in a stroller, go for a brisk walk in the neighborhood if the weather permits. Many malls open early for walkers. I would use these wrist weights while doing regular chores. The added weight should help my arms looks toned.

A great tip is to make time every day to do some kind of excersize. Even if it’s 5 minutes at least it’s something.
Yes, I do believe they would be a great help. 10 years ago when I was walking a mile a day I would carry cans so that I would have the added weight and it would help with my arm swing. These would be much better then cans…LOL!

Other than what has been said already, try to do exercises while working in the kitchen…counter pushups, toe raises, lunges thing like that or do exercises during commercials if you happen to have time to actually watch tv.

I walk 3 mornings a week in my school building for 30 minutes- there are stairs, hallways, and sloped areas. I try to use 1-2lb weights like water bottles or cans but sometimes forget them so Banglz would be the perfect solution.

Here’s how I fit some fitness into my day: On my breaks at work I walk either outside or around my building. I have two 15 min breaks a day so that is 30 minutes of exercise that I can get in! I would LOVE to own these banglz! I think that would add an extra element of fitness to my walks without being too noticeable! I love this idea!!

I try to keep fit – one tip that someone gave me a long time ago is make everything an excercise. When you get ready, you can do all kinds of leg excersices to tone, while cooking same thing leg excercises, squats, leg lifts. While sitting buy one of those elastabands, tie it around your thighs and pulse to tone your thighs. I think that this product would be very beneficial, simply add excercise to your everyday routine!

There was a simple thing that was told to me to help my stomach. You hold your stomach in for 5 to10 seconds and then let it go and just keep doing these. I am very busy so when I’m in my car i do them then. i can’t go anywhere and quit until I get home.

I am lucky enough to have an eliptical machine, and I found out that I work out best while watching TV. It helps to beable to lose yourself in a story line and the time passes much quicker. Also, I workout first thing in the morning! I would LOVE to have a se of these and would def. use them!

    60 Carol Wolf on November 4th, 2009 6:45 am

Walk up those stairs, find a parking space that will force you to walk a little further to your destination, and, as other readers have said, take advantage of every opportunity to do some toning exercises .
These wrist banglz will add a bit of resistance to everyday activities. Great!

I just try to fit in a little extra exercise everywhere, from walking instead of driving, or doing a little light yoga here and there. There are tons of exercises you can do in an office chair or on the floor while watching tv.

Yes , I need upper arm strength–since my kids aren’t small enough to carry –I have no upper body strength—these would help with that. Simple trick to get yourself a little extra exercise –during the day when ever your in an area that’s safe—park at the far end of the parking lot –make yourself walk.

I think you can incorporate playing with your kids into exercise. Throw them in a stroller and go for a power walk. Or play tag and run around the back yard. Or lay on your back and lift them up into the air. Lots of ways to increase your activity and burn calories just through everyday play. Yes, these would be great because they’d let you easily get some upper arm exercise while playing or cleaning during the day. Thanks.

    I have lots of ideas.
Maybe you’ll look strange doing it, but when standing in line, work your calf muscles by rocking up on your tip-toes every once in a while.
While in the kitchen, ‘stirring occasionally,’ do some squats. Nobody’s looking. I promise.
While watching tv whenever (hey, you have to check the weather in the morning!), squeeze your butt muscles.
I would use these all the time. I train a couple of friends, and if I’m not using them, they will! :-)
