Plant a Seed…It’s Time To Vote! Published on Friday, May 22, 2009 by

Earlier this year I told you about Kellogg’s Frosted Flakes Earn Your Stripes field renovation program to help renovate neighborhood sports fields across the US.  They believe that every child should have a place where they can be active and play in order to be their very best.  Thousands of fields were nominated and some had as many as 700,000 supporters!  It’s come down to 100 finalists and now we get to vote, to decide the winning fields.

The semifinalist fields were chosen based on “the feasibility of the field makeover, the location and age of the field, how often it gets used, how many events take place, what teams use it, the number of other athletic fields in the community, the demand, condition, and the impact a field renovation would have on the community.”  Now through May 31st, you can vote for your favorite field by visiting the Frosted Flakes website.  Maybe there is a field in your are that was nominated or one whose story is compelling.  I found one close to where my good friend lives and I decided to vote for that one because I believe that her 3 children will benefit from it’s renovation.  Some of the necessary work includes uneven ground, wear and tear, gopher holes, absence of lights, and a desire to use the field for walking/running.  We want our children to be active right?  We also want them to be safe!  I am impressed with Kellogg’s commitment to safe play and I encourage all of you to vote for your favorite field.  It takes just a minute (or less) and it’s free.

Profuse thanks to Mom Central for the information provided.
