It’s rare that hubby and I get to sit down and watch a movie together, particularly one that runs for almost 3 hours. I’ve been wanting to see the romantic drama Australia since it was released on DVD/Blu-ray on March 3.  The other night we finally sat down to watch it.  This inspiring story about overcoming impossible odds captivates the heart and provides an interesting look into the history of a country’s origins.  The cinematography is stunning and reawakens my longing to experience Australia’s diverse landscape.  I don’t want to give too much away, but here is a little more information u the movie if you’re not familiar with it:

Helmed by Australian native and Academy Award nominee Baz Luhrmann (Moulin Rouge!, Romeo + Juliet) and starring Oscar winner Nicole Kidman (Moulin Rouge!, The Hours) and Golden Globe-nominee Hugh Jackman (X-Men trilogy, The Prestige), this grand-scale journey, set against the Australian outback, follows an English aristocrat who travels to the faraway continent where she meets a rough-hewn local and reluctantly agrees to join forces with him to save a sprawling cattle ranch she inherited from her late husband. Together, they embark upon a journey across hundreds of miles of the world’s most beautiful yet unforgiving terrain, only to face the enemy Japanese forces.

Australia is available now on DVD and Blu-ray.  You can purchase a Walmart “Exclusive” edition of the DVD which features special packaging to encompass the glossy Australia picture book inside for $19.96.

    I watched the movie at the cinema and I thought Baz Luhrmann did a fine job in the movie. Not going to say more .. I dont want to spoil the movie for people who have not seen it. Would love to add this movie to my small DVD collection.

    My hubby is a shift worker and I’m a day worker, so our scheduled seldome tie up long enough for us to go to the theater to see a movie, so we rely on DVDs for our movie entertainment. I’ve been a Nicole Kidman fan for many years and would love to see this movie.

    I’d like to win the movie because I love the acting of Nicole Kidman (Hugh Jackman isn’t bad either!) and because I haven’t been to a movie since before my son was born (more than 9 months ago) and the only way I get to see a new one is when we get a free redbox rental or a friend loans us one!

    This was one of the best movies I have ever seen-and it takes a lot from a movie for me to sit still and watch one especially one over 3 hours. The bonds between the characters was so powerful and the scenery was gorgeous. I would love to own a copy but if I don’t win I congratulate whoever does since they will never forget this movie-it was fantastic.

    Okay. You’ve got me. I basically want to see this movie for the moment where a hard-working Hugh Jackman stands in the moonlight and pours a jar of water over his chiseled, quenched body. I’m pretty sure Nicole Kidman in the movie wasn’t acting when she was left utterly speechless.

    I am a HUGE Baz Luhrmann and was anxious to see this because the reviews were fairly poor but I loved it! It was brilliantly shot and had a great story behind it. I highly recommend it!

    Love Nicole Kidman. My daughter looked like her for awhile. I think she did a wonderful job in “Far and Away.” She knows how to carry off “epic” films. Would love to see her in “Australia.”
