The Daddy Diaper Changing Toolbox Published on Friday, February 13, 2009 by

This giveaway is now closed.  Thanks for stopping by.  The winner is Kama.  Congratulations!

It’s not often that I open up a product that I’m about to review and laugh!  But that is exactly what I did when I opened up The Daddy Diaper Changing Toolbox.  I promise that’s a good thing!  My very best friend is finally pregnant with her first baby and due in April and the Daddy Diaper Changing Toolbox would be a great gift for the dad-to-be.  When a couple is expecting their first baby, the focus is on the mom-to-be (and rightly so).  But dads are just as important and they often feel left out. The Daddy Diaper Changing Toolbox would make a perfect gift for any dad!  And it may give that new dad a little inspiration and courage to change a diaper…or ten!

The Daddy Diaper Changing Toolbox was created by Chris Hartsfield as a fun and lighthearted way to celebrate fatherhood while acknowledging the vital role they play.  When he attended his first couples baby shower, he was in awe of how many gifts and how much attention was devoted to the mom-to-be and the unborn baby but felt a little left out of the whole process.  While the Daddy Diaper Changing Toolbox was meant to elicit laughs, it also equips new dads with tools they can actually use (even if it’s not on the baby!).  The Daddy Diaper Changing Toolbox focuses on that first diaper change.  Both mothers and fathers can appreciate how intimidating this experience can be.

Here is a list of what’s included in the box from the site:

Optional Step by Step Dad Humor Directions included with Inventory item checklist:

* Mask –toxic fume filter for when it doesn’t smell like roses.
*
Goggles –for protection against your own mini version of Old Faithful.
* Patent Pending Poop Poncho –need we say more???
* Tongs –Several inches of steel separation between you and the little warm wrapped gift.
* Turkey Baster –for precision hiney washing.
* Ear/Nose Plugs –use with care.
* Pacifier — scream plug.
* Baby Wipes — for cleaning baby bottom and various parts.
* Diaper for newborn — cute as a kitten until it gets wet then it looks and smells like a sewer rat.
* Bio Hazard bag and rubber gloves –for quarantine containment of the nuclear meltdown.
* Emergency Formula Container– doubles as a PeePee cover for WeWe.
* Hand Wipes– to clean up afterward. (For Dad’s use only).
* Picture Frame — this is your badge of honor.

So I begged and pleaded with my husband to “gear up” for this review and he willingly obliged!

One of the things I LOVE about the toolbox are the different descriptions given for the products.  For example, the pacifier is the scream plug, the turkey baster is for precision hiney washing, and the picture frame is the dad’s badge of honor.

The Daddy Diaper Changing Toolbox retails for $34.99 and can be purchased directly on the site.  If you think this is a truly fabulous product, why not tell Ellen all about it!

Win It!  One of you will win a Daddy Diaper Changing Toolbox.  Simply head on over to the site and take a look around.  Come back here and leave me a comment with one item you like…but make it funny please!  Extra entries for funny comments!  Comments will close on February 27, 2009 at 10 PM PST. One comment per person, please. Praise Caryn!!!!! Inside joke…Thank you so much for everything this is one of the best write ups so far on the Daddy Diaper Changing Toolbox and you didn’t even have to become one with a peacock. I sweet talked Caryn to take the Toolbox to the Ellen show this week she was on Thursday’s show. I promised her a kidney if we got on the show so be sure to suggest the Toolbox to Ellen because Caryl might have taken up drinking in hopes of the kidney o wait never mind that ‘s the liver were good. Thank You :)

Oh how cute, to finally involve the “Daddy” in the process, with the “Man” version of the “diaper bag”, so he doesn’t feel like the Lone Ranger.

“Emergency Formula Container” Doubles as a PeePee cover for WeWe, and if you aren’t “quick enough” you have the “Goggles” Your protection against your own mini version of old faithful! Hopefully, the Daddy would put the goggles on first, lol.

  • by Heather February 14, 2009 at 8:28 am

That is so funny! And what a great gift for a new dad! I LOVE the goggles!

  • by Leann S February 14, 2009 at 10:48 am

The glow in the dark baby bottle collars are awesome. Wonder if they make glow in the dark boob paint for breastfeeding moms.

  • by judy brittle February 14, 2009 at 11:55 am

I would love a stack of those newborn diapers. My nephew was bragging that he don’t change no babies diapers and that’s his wife’s job. I bet he would!!!!!

Love the Mask for toxic fume filter for when it doesn’t smell like roses. (Is it suppose to smell like roses? My daughters’ never did). This is so funny. I would love to win this for my brother (his wife is pregnant). When he was younger and had to change my littlest brother’s diaper, he would wrap a bandana around his face to block out the smell. I’m sure this would bring back memories.
Thanks for the review and giveaway!

I think the Tongs are a necessity. Tongs –Several inches of steel separation between you and the little warm wrapped gift. My hubby will have 2 stinky, dirty bums to change and to keep from using our kitchen utensils, this toolbox is a must.

  • by jffryclough February 15, 2009 at 5:56 am

    the tongs…i guess…

  • by fxs111 February 15, 2009 at 3:21 pm

I think that the goggles are essential. I am a father of two wonderful girls and now a grandfather of a girl and a boy. Until Ethan was born and I started changing his diaper I didn’t need safety glases.

  • by 3boyzmom (tangie) February 15, 2009 at 6:11 pm

I love how it looks just like a toolbox…maybe the men will actually pick it up that way!! They never have to know…….

  • by Cathie F February 15, 2009 at 6:40 pm

WE love the . Tongs –Several inches of steel separation between you and the little warm wrapped gift. I mean can’t you just see the new dad picking it up with the tongs, holding it at arms length of course, as he grabs the Bio Hazard bag , also at arms length. Shakes it open and tries to get the warm package into the bag safely.. LOL

The turkey baster is the funniest. I can just see my son-on-law trying to clean the baby with it. He would miss and get it all over himself. This is such a fantastic gift for a shower I hope I win so I can see everyone laugh at the shower.

  • by angela February 15, 2009 at 7:08 pm

The bio hazard bags which may be needed because have you ever smelled a new babies poopie? The formula that we give babies does something to them and oh my gosh like an atom bomb going off in their pants LOL

I think the poop poncho is brilliant. I know some men would melt if they got poo on themselves.

  • by Bing February 18, 2009 at 3:50 pm

I love the mask, but not so much for the toxic fume filter. Rather, it would protect me and the daddy from drinking directly from the Old Faithful. Thanks for the fun giveaway!

I like the tongs. My husband’s best friend for years, whom we thought would never get married, has done so and JUST had his second baby (all in the last three years). Diaper duty, however, is NOT his favorite thing. I can totally see him playing up the tong issue. :) Great giveaway.

When I had my youngest son I went back to work one Saturday a week. My older sons had to watch him until my husband got home from work. When my husband came home the 13 year old son had a bnadana over his nose and mouth, the 10 -1/2 year old was holding the baby down and the 7 year old was standing nearby with a can of spray air freshener. The oldest figured if he had to change diapers his brothers were going to help. It was a funny site. They could have used this tool box.

  • by Kama February 24, 2009 at 12:16 pm

The Patent Pending Poop Poncho sounds pretty useful. My son is 5 months old and we definitely could have used that in the early months when we’d start changing before he was “finished.” Yikes!!

  • by Barbara K February 24, 2009 at 3:01 pm

The toxic fume filter (otherwise known as a mask) actually should be worn by everyone in the room when baby has pooped! So, march on down to your nearest home improvement store for refills!

  • by Suanne Giddings February 25, 2009 at 12:50 am

Oh this is hilarious! I love the Patent Pending Poop Poncho! I can’t stop laughing over the mask (I wonder if it would cut down on the gag/barf reaction?) and goggles though, LOL. This would make such a fun “shower” gift for Dad. I’d love to win it for my son-in-law.
This toolkit is a comical approach to a needed task! The funny thing is – a lot of new dads might find some of these items absolutely essential! I’ll never forget the newborn (or the “teething”) diaper that smells like a sewer rat.. I know some men who would meltdown if they got some uh, “organic debris” on them. Who likes picking up that diaper after you have witnessed what is inside of it? Most men take off running to the bathroom before finishing the diaper changing task…talk about drama! Thank you for the opportunity to participate in this giveaway!

  • by Vicki Wurgler February 25, 2009 at 9:53 am

I like the mask-that would be for my husband-smell is the worst!

  • by Melanie February 25, 2009 at 3:16 pm

    The Goggles!
    haha, how adorable.
I know theres been a time or two in this household
where those would have come in handy. Thats what you get with little boys!

I LOVE this!! My favorite part is the goggles! My daughter is 4 weeks old, and my husband hasn’t been able to change a diaper yet because his hand is in a cast. He gets it off in 2 weeks and I would LOVE to have this waiting for him. Then he wouldn’t have ANY excuse not to change her anymore. I got sprayed with poop the other day, so all of these things would definitely come in handy. Hehe. :)
