Pet Hair No More! Plus a Giveaway!

February 13, 2009 by Caryn

This giveaway is now closed. Thanks for stopping by.  The winner is glfrog63.  Congratulations!

I love our little Niko!  But…our soft, fluffy Maltese Terrier mix sheds like crazy.  His hair is everywhere and it’s annoying.  I’ve found it everywhere…even in my food!  One of the places where dog hair seems to accumulate most is on the furniture.  Vacuuming never works….ever!  Apart from taking some tape and removing it myself, old-school style, it’s not going to happen.

What I (and you pet owners) need is the Pledge Fabric Sweeper for Pet Hair.  The Fabric Sweeper “quickly and effectively removes pet hair from upholstered furniture.”  Pledge has been around a really long time and it’s a brand that I know and trust.

So how does it work?  The Fabric Sweeper comes assembled and all you do is take it out of the box, identify the source of the pet hair, and slide it side to side in short strokes. It has two rollers that rotate back and forth to lift and trap pet hair. I’ve never used sticky roller sheets, but for comparison, one Fabric Sweeper picks up as much pet hair as 145 sticky roller sheets.

I actually really enjoyed using the product.  As a mom, I’m all about simple, effective solutions.  The Fabric Sweeper is easy to use and I like that all the hair is contained in the plastic chamber.  It’s clear, which means you can visually see the hair being lifted off your couch.  It’s also disposable.  Once it’s full, simply toss it.  The Fabric Sweeper has a built-in system to clean itself so you don’t have to worry about putting hair all over the place when using it on multiple surfaces.  For a list of surfaces that may not be appropriate for the Fabric Sweeper, check out their website.

The Pledge Fabric Sweeper retails for approximately $5.99 and is available anywhere cleaning products are sold.

Win It!  One of you will win a Pledge Fabric Sweepr for Pet Hair.  Simply head on over to the site and take a look around.  Come back here with a comment indicating something you like or learned from the site.  Comments will close on February 27, 2009 at 10 PM PST.  One comment per person, please. i learned that Fabric Sweeper is self-cleaning! As you go in one direction, one roller picks up the pet hair from the surface. When you go in the other direction, the second roller cleans off the first and pushes the pet hair inside.

    116 Kelly on February 24th, 2009 1:34 pm

I don’t get it…the Pledge Fabric Sweeper is just as wasteful as the lint rollers because in the end you still though away a big chuck of plastic. Better solutions would be a wet-rubber glove or a Fur-Zoff. A Fur-Zoff costs only $9.99 and lasts forever. http://www.furoff.net If you want to be green and save money try a furzoff. Pledge should have made this product reusable.

    117 Caryn on February 24th, 2009 2:35 pm

    Hi Kelly

You make a really good point that I had not thought about. I really do try to purchase eco-friendly products and I want to thank you for your recommendation. I will look into the Fur Zoff and try harder to keep the environment in mind when reviewing and recommending products. I do focus on trying to recommend eco-friendly products but sometimes there just isn’t an eco-friendly alternative available or I don’t yet know about an eco-friendly alternative. I truly value your input!

Thanks for the feedback Caryn. I know it’s hard to use eco-friendly products all the time, I can’t say that I do. Even so, there are other ways to remove pet hair with out having to purchase a pledge fabric sweeper once every 2 weeks, even though it works great. I am just trying to help pet owners out, save them some money. Definitely look in to a Fur-Zoff http://furzoff.net as I think you will like it.

I have used Pledge for years – something I learned from Mom. I haven’t tried the multi surface wipes or spray but I really would like to try them out. They clean and polish at the same time – save me a lot of work. How nice to clean everything with just one product – then I could eliminate many bottles of cleaners out from under my cabinet! Thank you for the opportunity to win!

As you go in one direction, one roller picks up the pet hair from the surface. When you go in the other direction, the second roller cleans off the first and pushes the pet hair inside
