Hey all of you moms of tweens and teens. Are you looking for hip, upbeat music with a positive message? Groovy Ruby is an all-girl band of five who sing about friendship, perserverance, and encouragement (check out the messages conveyed by each song here). These gals are amazingly talented! I found myself dancing around while I was trying to do some stuff around the house. They describe themselves as a younger mix between the Go-Go’s and the Beatles…and they’re spot on! The songs are catchy (as opposed to annoying) and definitely merit some groovin’.
If you can believe it, this is the group’s second album and they’ve been playing together for three years. The group was formed by New Jersery teacher/songwriter Dean Laterra. You’ll find them playing “live” around the Northern New Jersey area. I’d love to see them live to experience their charisma! Groovy Ruby is a nice alternative to mainstream music with questionable lyrics/messages.
