My husband has lived in Southern California for six years, yet there are times when I think he knows his way around better than I do. It seems ironic that he'd need a GPS (hint hint hubby), but with the amount of travel he does for work (both in and out of California), it's actually a perfect gift for him. Previously, we owned a first generation GPS, purchased when ... Read More »

I sincerely hope that each one of you has a husband or father that enjoys cooking on some level. I am so blessed to have a father who cooked for me growing up, and a husband who now does the same. Anyone who cooks knows how important the kitchen "gear" is. My husband has to use just the right pots, pans, and knives when he is cooking up a meal. Many of the dishe... Read More »

Every day it's the same. One of us cooks, we eat, our toddler throws spills all some of his food on the floor, I we clean up. The "cleaning up" part is the most monotonous and time-consuming, especially at the end of a long day. If the mess encompasses more than just a small area, we have to break out the "big" vacuum. Well, thanks to Vroom, we don't have to b... Read More »

A few months ago, I won a Learning Tower on Stephanie's blog during their Love of Learning Month promotion. My son has really enjoyed playing in it (or shall I say climbing in and out of it over and over). I stay home with my son most days of the week and the reality is, household chores have to get done. I know it's crazy isn't it? Things like dishes and cook... Read More »

When I was a little girl, my mother gave me a gold necklace with my name on it. I still have that necklace, tucked away in my jewelry box for safekeeping since it was made for a child. While I love to wear jewlery, it's not often that I actually purchase pieces for myself. I prefer to leave that to my husband!
I recently had an opportunity to review a necklac... Read More »

Apart from the fact that I feel like I'm on a ship all the time and I can't get enough sleep, I don't have a lot of other pregnancy discomforts (not to discount the ones I do have, which have pretty much rendered me less than effective!). It's too early to feel the baby move, and the five pounds I've gained (yes, despite the fact that I've been so sick!) make me... Read More »

Much to my delight (no sarcasm noted whatsoever), my son LOVES to play in the sand at the park. And it just so happens that less than 2 minutes from our house is a lovely little play area, complete with sand. Actually, sand play has educational benefits like helping to develop motor, spatial, and social skills. This type of open-ended play "allows children the f... Read More »

I shudder when my husband tells me he's going out of town for work. It's never fun to go to work, care for a household and a child by yourself...while pregnant and SICK. Add in the fact that I never avoid at all costs rarely cook and the result is a very expensive week of eating out. It's not my fault...not really! I grew up in a house where my father did 100% o... We've had some really warm days here in Southern California and I can only imagine how hot it will be come July and August! My son loves playing outside in the sprinklers and with the hose with my husband. When I think about outdoor toys, one company stands out in my mind...Step 2. Here is a little more information about the company:
The Step2 Company, LLC is a... Read More »

I don't know if you remember, but a few weeks ago I was very, very sick with a sinus infection. There used to be a time when I had to see an ENT every month for severe allergies. As I've gotten older, it seems like they're either getting better or I'm learning how to manage them more effectively.
Sometimes a product comes at just the right time and such was... Read More »

When I was a little girl, I played the piano. In the beginning, it wasn't something I was particularly fond of (sorry mom!). But as time went on, I came to really enjoy my piano lessons. I still played the piano through college, mostly for fun. I write a lot about music and children because I believe that music has tremendous benefits for children. Some of t... Read More »

Now that summer is almost here, we'll be spending a lot of time at the beach and the pool, since water is the only way to stay sane cool in our desert-like conditions. In order to prepare for any water activity, we make sure we have the following: All natural sunscreen with at least an SPF of 30, sun protective clothing, swim suit, towel, hat, sunglasses, swim dia... I love to bake. I grew up baking with my mom and an easy bake oven. Children have this affinity for "grown-up" activities like cleaning, baking, and wearing mommy's shoes! My son is already showing interest in "helping" mommy out in the kitchen! We all know that children like snacks! As hard as I've tried to keep my son far away from cookies and cake...it's ... After silence, that which comes nearest to expressing the inexpressible is music.
~Aldous Huxley, Music at Night and Other Essays
My husband and I are avid music lovers. It's just one of the many things that drew us together. While we have a lot of commonality in our music tastes and interests, we also have our diverse likes and dislikes. My husband has his o... Read More »

My mom and I were out to lunch this afternoon to celebrate a belated Mother's Day. My son was with us and while he was pretty well-behaved, much of the time was spent picking up toys and other objects he'd thrown on the floor once he was done playing with them. I remember how cute it was when he was a baby and he'd throw everything from his high chair or stroller.... Read More »

As a mom who's trying to be mindful of the environment, I often think about the toys we purchase for my son. Safey is always a consideration, however, I also think about the educational value of the toy, it's age appropriateness, and whether or not it's going to require batteries. When I was pregnant with my son, I had a lot of aspirations about how I was going to... Read More »

I know I'm not the next Martha Stewart, but I do have to spend a bit of time in the kitchen, since my husband's work schedule is a little hectic at times. Because I despise love being in the kitchen so much, I'm always looking for gadgets that make food preparation and cooking easier.
There is a fabulous little company called Fusionbrands, specializing in pro... Read More »

I've always strived to serve healthy meals and snacks in our household. We regularly purchase organic foods to ensure that our entire family consumes foods in their purest and most natural form. When my son was a baby, I tried to make his baby food. Realistically, I did not (and don't) have the time for elaborate, homemade baby food so I opted for a brand that was... Read More »

Having a baby has been (and is) one of the most joyful experiences in my life. It's definitely also the busiest I've ever been. Babies and toddlers take up a lot of time (and rightly so), and I find myself neglecting myself at times. As a woman and a mother, I find that one of the most important things I can do for my child is to keep myself healthy. If you... Read More »
