Holiday Giveaway: Unstable Fables: Goldilocks & the 3 Bears
December 9, 2008
A few months ago I attended an exclusive screening of Tortoise VS Harer at the Jim Henson studios in Los Angeles courtesy of Role Mommy and Momlogic. On December 13, the Weinstein Company and Genius Products will release the third DVD movie in the Unstable Fables series, entitled Goldilocks & the 3 Bears. We actually saw a preview of this and it looks hilarious! The entire series is a modern-day twist on the classic Aesop’s Fables.
Here is a little more about the upcoming movie:
Spoiled T star Golidlocks moves in with the three bears to be filmed 24/7 for a “Big Brother”-type reality show in an effort to boost her career. As they attempt to capture audiences, Goldilocks and the bear family must learn to get along if their show is going to be a ratings success. Featuring the voice talents of Golden Globe nominee Brooke Shields, Tom Arnold, and Jamie Lynn Spears, Goldilocks & the 3 Bears is sure to be a hit among the entire family.
Goldilocks & the 3 Bears debuts on December 16 and will retail for $19.97.

Holiday Gift Idea & Giveaway: My Baby For Nintendo DS
November 19, 2008
*Update*
This giveaway is now closed. Thanks for stopping by. The winner is Elizabeth M.
Video games are all the rage with children and with Nintendo’s dual-screen handheld game console, DS, toting them has never been more convenient. Some may argue that video games may not be as beneficial for development as other types of play. I beg to differ. I think video games, when carefully selected for age and gender, can teach children skills such as problem solving, trial and error, perseverance, and collaboration. Pretend play, in particular, can facilitate the early development of skills such as language and communication, social, and motor skills.
SouthPeak Games just released My Baby Girl and My Baby Boy for Nintendo DS. This is the virtual doll of the 21st century! The focus of these games is on pretend play and life simulation as opposed to competition. Children start by choosing a name, ethnicity (so PC!), and eye-color for their baby. Then watch as baby smiles for the first time, walks for the first time, and grows up right before your child’s eyes (do they have a teen version? : ) Your child will be able to help nurture this baby with simple tasks like changing a diaper and feeding a baby from a bottle (lactivists may protest). If your child gets “stuck” he/she can elicit help from a pediatrician. As the baby achieves developmental milestones, new age-appropriate activities become unlocked. I tried this out and absolutely love it for it’s educational value. This would be a perfect gift for my BF’s three little girls who adore dolls!
My Baby retails for $30.00 and is available now!
Check out a preview on the site!
Win It! One very lucky reader will receive a copy of My Baby courtesy of Role Mommy. Head on over to the site and take a look around. Come back her and leave me a comment telling me what you think about My Baby. Do you think it has educational value? What do/don’t you like about it. Comments will close on December 3, 2008 at 10 pm PST. The winner will be chosen on December 4, 2008. One comment per person, please. US residents only. Duplicates and comments not including the above information will be disqualified. Comments are moderated. If you don’t see your comment in a reasonable amount of time, send me an email. One of the things Jason and I love to do is curl up on the couch with a good movie. This holiday season grab a loved one and something warm to drink while you prepare for a snow-day adventure unlike any other. From Genius Products and Animal Planet comes Arctic Exposure With Nigel Marven, set to debut on DVD November 25, 2008. The series originally aired on Animal Planet in 2007. My dad and I used to love watching real-life documentaries of animals and this is a great way to expose to children to varying wildlife.
Here is a little preview of the newly released title:
Join famed zoologist Nigel Marven on a nine month adventure exploring the wildlife and surrounding area of the Canadian Arctic on an expedition that takes him from the icy wasteland of the far north, across near-endless tundra to the vast boreal forest in the south. The series takes viewers along for the adventure as Nigel follows the fortunes of the indigenous animals – including polar bear cubs, walruses and an Arctic wolf – that call the extreme conditions of this unique territory home.
This five-part series includes a “Behind-the-Scenes” featurette, and will retail for $39.92.
Win It! I have 5 copies of Arctic Exposure With Nigel Marven to give away! Head on over to Animal Planet and take a look around.
