Last week, I read an article that made me want to weed through our fridge and cupboard to rid our home of these 7 unsafe foods. While I strive to purchase organics, I can't say that even 50% of the foods we consume are organic. I, along with many consumers, fin... Read More »

Since I am a total gamer, I was super excited (in a geeky sort of way) about an opportunity to speak with Pokémon Expert Seth McMahill. The very fact that Nintendo has a Pokémon Expert fascinates me. The video game series was first introduced 14 years ago, and Nintendo recently released Pokémon Black Version and Pokémon White Version Video Games for the DS.

On March 29th, Walt Disney Studios' blockbuster animated feature, Tangled will be released on DVD and Blu-ray. Disney's fresh and modern take on the ancient 19th century German fairy tale offers adventure, comedy, and of course, Disney magic. Tangled stars Mandy Moore as Rapunzel, a teenage girl seeki... I've just had a whirlwind 3 days here in Orlando, Florida and we still have one more day in this magical place. Perhaps you've been reading the tweets from the Disney Social Media Moms Celebration or reading the posts that have already gone live. Like many of the attendees, I came away with a wealth of information. My hope in sharing just some of what I've learned ... Read More »

It's true! Walmart recently added six new moms to their group and I am honored to have joined as a Walmart Mom. Over the years, I've shared my best tips on how to get the greatest value for your money whether you're shopping for back to school or your Thanksgiving dinner. And I'll continue to do just that with an emphasis on green living and sustainability (which ... Read More »

I am able to stay home 6 days a week with my children because my husband and I work hard to save money where we can (we also truly do work hard at our respective places of employment). Since I do a majority of the shopping, I do much in the way of research to save where I can. While I do rely on our weekly circular to get the most up-to-date information on sales, ... Read More »

When I think about poverty...starvation...need...I think about other countries...impoverished countries. I don't look at our affluent society and think it possible that 17.2 million children living in the US don’t know when or where their next meal is coming from. But these are the facts and despite the tragedy that is occurring in nations like Libya and Japan, ... Read More »

A couple of weeks ago, a local restaurant chain hosted a free pancake day to raise money for an established children's charity. I don't typically go out to breakfast unless it's a Saturday and the hubby is around, however, I felt like it was an important cause and thought it would make for a teachable moment with my... When my son was diagnosed with food allergies, we were overwhelmed with the fact that his diet was about to change drastically. If you've never thought about what's in packaged and prepared foods, you might be surprised to know that almost everything contains either dairy, eggs, or both. Then there was the list of foods he was sensitive to: coconut, wheat, gluten,... Read More »

Some of my fondest memories of traveling through a country involve food. I prefer local cafes or bistros as opposed to fancy 5 star restaurants hyped up in a tourist guide. When I visit a foreign county, I want to experience national traditions and local cultural intricacies. Our visit to España was one of the most memorable travel experiences! My wife and I spen... Technology bridges magic in Disney's Mars Needs Moms, which opened over the weekend in theaters nationwide. The computer-animated sci-fi film follows the story of nine year old Milo, who goes on a space quest to find his mom who has been abducted by Martians. The film, which is based on a children's picture book by Pulitzer Prize winning cartoonist Berkeley "Berk... Read More »

I feel like I'm the very last person on Earth to discover Redbox (pease tell me I'm not the only one?). My husband has been a loyal subscriber to a competitor for years (as in longer than we've been married). I never really questioned it or thought too much about the fact that there might be something better for one of our shared pastimes. But a few weeks ago, R... Read More »

I first discovered blogs when I was pregnant with my son. A high-risk pregnancy landed me on bedrest and I was forced to stay connected via the internet. Unlike most moms-to-be, I researched, registered, and shopped online without ever seeing a product. These days, I still do most of my research and shopping online.
During Oscar weekend, I had an opportunity ... Read More »

I get excited about finding new things to do with my children. Last week, I told you about Lowe's free Build and Grow Clinics, the latest which is planned for this Saturday, March 12th. The Home Depot also offers workshops, the theme of which is Build. Learn. Create. Once a month, children and parents can visit their local store to create projects including tool... Read More »

Finding that balance between kid-friendly and gourmet is challenging. Because my husband and I tend to be foodies, we would opt to eat at home before sacrificing the taste and diversity we've come to expect at a nice restaurant. Most restaurants that offer the type of food my husband and I enjoy, are not the least bit kid-friendly. That's not to say that we have... Read More »

I like shoes. A lot. In fact, my husband has prohibited me from purchasing additional pairs until further notice (or I agree to donate a few). I get around this by purchasing shoes for my children as my son's feet are growing and my daughter is learning to walk.
So where do the locals go to buy shoes in the OC? Check out my Orange County Kid's Shoe Guide, on CB... Read More »

While I find it beneficial to shop for my pregnant friends from a registry, sometimes I like to gift something unique yet functional. One of my top recommendations for creative baby gifts are from a company called The Baby Bunch. I've had the privilege of featuring the company several times and I'm always impressed with their latest in beautiful, usable gifts.
