I would love to be able to hold my daughter all day long. But dishes laundry things would never get done. So while I'm running after my son or trying to get in a 3 minute shower, I put my daughter in a swing or a bouncer. My son never enjoyed his bouncer, but my daughter actually prefers it over the swing.
New and expectant parents have an abundance of baby g... Read More »

The official start to summer was last week, and many children will be heading off to camp. Once my son started school, I started labeling all of his clothes and shoes. I don't expect that a 3 year old will be able to keep up with his stuff, but I don't want to invest in new clothes, shoes, etc. should he lose them.
Mabel's Labels is once again offering their Camp... Read More »

Babyproofing...those little devices and gadgets have managed to help avert many a disaster...and for that I'm grateful. But...white and plastic don't necessarily go with our modern home decor. For the most part, I recognize these devices for what they are and know that one day we'll be free from them. But one company is bringing function and style to childproofing... Read More »

I still remember my childhood room...and how it changed over the years as I grew up. My son will spend a lot of time in his room, and I want him to have wonderful memories of that space he sleeps and plays in. One of the things I've enjoyed about living in our own home, is th... Read More »

As an eco-minded mom, I try to purchase organic, local, sustainable foods and products. But what doesn't immediately come to mind is to shop for organic clothing. Cotton contains 25% of the world's pesticides, many of which are "possible," "likely," "probable," or "known" human carcinogens (Environmental Protection Agency). When I think about the fact that over ... Read More »

Over the years, I've managed to collect a LOT of shoes. My husband is always trying to bribe convince me to get rid of some, but a girl can never have too many shoes. Before children, I chose style over comfort. I actually have several pairs of shoes that I can no longer wear safely, because of this reason.
If you can believe it, I'm currently wearing the... Read More »

Last year, we took our little boy to the circus for the first time and he really enjoyed it. He is fascinated by animals, particularly the rare and exotic type. This year marks the 200th anniversary of "the greatest show on earth," which returns to Southern California on July 14th.

Every Sunday, before church, my parents and I would read the Sunday paper...together...as a family (odd isn't it?). I would pull the comics and pass the time until we had breakfast and then got ready for church.
If you enjoy comics, do check out The Lunar Antics Presents: Boy, I'd Hate to Be Made Out of That Stuff. The book is a collection of newspaper-style ca... Read More »

Last weekend, husband and I took a mini staycation in La Jolla. Do you know what the BEST part about the trip was? Sleep The FOOD! We ate leisurely, hot 3 course meals at my favorite restaurant and slept in and enjoyed a late brunch the following morning afternoon. We need to do that more.
If you didn't already know (haha!), my husband and I are total foodi... Read More »

My foodie husband and I are raising little foodies. Other moms ask me how I coerce my son into eating things like broccoli and salmon or Japanese Teppan. Or how it is that we can drive by a certain fast food chain without a meltdown. My answer is simple...my children eat what we eat.
We eat out anywhere from one to several times a week, depending on our work ... Read More »

With summer officially here, we're spending less time indoors and I'm finding that we're not reading as much as we used to. Fortunately, we instilled a love for reading early on, and my son makes it a point to remind us about our evening story time.

As a "green" parent, I'm always interested in learning what companies are doing to protect and preserve our planet. I recently learned that Crayola is using renewable energy, reducing waste, and protecting rainforests in an effort to work towards providing a healthier environment for children. Additionally, solar panels are being used to provide power to make 1 bi... Read More »
